    Apple Power Mac G4 Case

Is it possible to use conventional (non-Apple) motherboards, ATX power supply etc in one of these cases?

    not without heavy modding

if you want the look and a full size atx case, atech made a nice one. i have one. only beef is you have to dremel/saw the metal out of the metal part of the fan vent as it is horrificly restrictive to any airflow

the nice part is geeks.com has them really cheap... i bought mine there

theirs were originally fry's branded ones with 2 cd doors as opped to one (4 5.25 bays total either way). the dorky sticker they put on it can be removed to say fry's.

they have them on sale for $14.99 plus shipping... sounds too good to be true but it is not... i have a thread around here (my case suggestions thread) on it.

i'll second that, it looks like it will work, but when you try the motherboard mounts & stuff dont align.
the same goes for the G3 - i tried.

if you drill and tap new holes, you can. in the article in my thread on the atech look alike case, tom's hardware mentioned people had done it. a PITA and if you f*ck up, you trash it. not for the fait of heart or the lacking in free time.

This site gives detailed instructions on how to put a PC board in a G4 case:

I picked up the G4 Powermac case for $5, looks like an ATX power supply fits no problem.

You are limited to Micro ATX or Flex-ATX boards.

Looks like an interesting winter-time project

I did that in 45mins. I reppaced the power supply. Took like 5mins. Then i had myneighvor saw out the backplate area. Then i hotglued in a mini itx mobo. The hardest part was gluing a pc power button in there. I ended up using toothpicks
Then i ripped out he innards agsin a month later and built a much more inreresting shoebox pc. I csn upload pix if u like
And i no longer need the sawed out g4 case you can have it if you want if yure in san rafael
