    Need Help Plz

I am recapping my MSI KT4V MS-6712 Ver: 1.0. I have recapped the board but in my haste I think I mixed up the six capacitors by the CPU socket. If I read the board right it's the following numbers EC15, EC18, EC22, and EC80, EC92, EC113. Can anyone send me the correct capacitance for these? Thanks for your help

    Great site, Steve

in most cases the caps closest to the cpu will be for vcore and wiil likely be the highest capacitance at a low voltage like 6.3 or 4v
however the one close to the atx might be a supply bypass for +5 or +12

Thanks for the quick reply, so if I understand this the caps circled in blue should be 6.3v 2200uf and the ones in red should be 16v 1500uf?? Thanks again

        that would be my guess.
a quick and dirty test would be to check for a very low resistance from +12(yellow)to + of the caps in red.
they are likely on the vrm imput from +12

I have been posting in the power supply forum about an Antec NEO 480 that died and took my MSI KT4V along with it. Basically, There was a normal power failure and when I went to turn the computer back on it would not power up. I think the fuhjyyu caps in the NEO crapped out and then applying power to the motherboard after the power failure took out my KT4V. The computer was plugged into a UPS. All the components from this system aside from the power supply and motherboard work fine and I am using them now in my rebuilt machine. I would however like to learn by trying to fix my old motherboard...

Abit BP6 recapping & stability tips [UPDATED]
          by Topcat
Ok, Ive had several emails and even a posting or two in the forums about the Abit BP6 motherboard... Along with the VP6, I've had a lot of experience with the BP6. As we all know, the BP6 was plagued with the crap cap problem as well... However, this board has room for a couple variations in changing out the caps. I usually try to sway people away from changing capacitance values, however, through MUCH testing and experimenting with this board, some mods were worth doing.

I'm sure that all the BP6 users are familliar with bp6.com, and they've given me quite a few usefil tips, but...

          This mobo does not POST

Found two SMT Alu miniature caps amiss near the battery holder.
These should be easy to replace even if I use Pana FM equivalents
(that being so) to test if the patch will fix the problem.

I found the battery completely dead. 0 volts.
          Suspect it may be related.
Anyway, I have posted an enquiry on the MSI forums in the
hope some members can ID these cap values.

Which brings me to my next question. I feel an idiot.
How? I have looked at another two SMT Alu miniature caps
          on this...

          MSI KT4V MS-6712 V1.1 Caps?
          by ShawninTennessee
          Hello to everyone,
I just joined up and have a few questions.
First let me tell you whats been going on with my board. O.k. I bought this board about a year ago off from Ebay. I got it for an awesome price. Just before that my cousin let me build a new system for him. I have been running this board for about the whole year till amonth ago.

It started turning itself on and off. So i had figured it was the power supply. Bought a new one and same issue. So i had the money and decided to build myself a new Athlon 64 system. But the other board was still working at the...

          Recapping Your VP6
          by Topcat
If a faulty Abit VP6 is what has drawn you to this site, you've probably seen my article on Kabalsrealm or VP6-board.com on recapping this board. However, for some that may have not seen this article, the link to it is: http://www.kabalsrealm.com/systems/projects/vp6/.

I also figured I'd do a quick rundown of the faulty caps and what to replace them with here for quick reference. Since the VP6 was the posterchild of bad capacitors that this site was built on, I get the most questions and business from this board.

For the best results recapping this board, 23 capacitors...
