Recapping iMac logic board using solid polymer

I will be recapping an iMac's logic board it uses the regular low esr capacitor in case I want to use solid polymer capacitors as replacement what would you suggest I get to replace them here's a picture of the logic board.

Hi kc8adu can your verify all the cap values are right? I checked the board and it was previously repaired saw signs of bad soldering. thanks

Re: Recapping iMac logic board using solid polymer

I'd like to hear back about this. I just got an iSight G5 20" for next to nothing, but it's got blown caps. I may as well polymod it. I'm not certain what the voltages are, though.

The bad ones are all nearest the CPU and the GPU (least I think that's what the main chips with the heat tubes run to them are) and are 6.3v MCZ's at 1500uF and 1800uF. Can I just run polymers with half the capacitance at 4v or so? I can't find a really good recap writeup for these. Everyone always replaces them with factory caps which I'm obviously not about to do.

        Thanks in advance!

Dang, I have the 3rd Gen with a 2.1GHz... I guess that makes it a Core II Duo? But it has hardly any caps on it compared to the 1st and 2nd Gen. I think the PSU will end up having problems after I open it because from the looks of its PCB it got HOT.

In regards to the few caps it does have, the 1500uF and 1800uF 6.3v jobbers, do they need to be the same value if I put polys in their place or can I reduce them?

Here's a link to the exact board mine has: hxxp://jimwarholic.com/2010/02/isight-g5-apple-mother-board.php

Oh, I guess it's still the PowerPC processor and not the Core Duo version. My Paps aquired this thing under the impression he could actually install Windows on it. Is that possible with the PowerPC version? (and I don't mean emulating it within MacOS)

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

LG 60PK550 Logic Control Board EBR63450301
                by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
                C57: 3.30V
                C61:...

Will I have a bricked logic board after reflow of the GPU v-core U8900 chip on my Mid-2012 15" Retina Macbook pro?
                by korben_dallas
Hi everyone! I'm trying to fix my black screen / failed U8900 GPU v-core on my Mid-2012 Macbook Pro 15" Retinaby doing a rework/reflow of the chip (once I determine that's the real issue; but it likely is).

I've been disabling the GPU in NVRAM for a few years... but it's just time for a better solution.

I'm new to soldering but the only feasible way to fix this issue is to do something myself.

                MY QUESTION:
I've been seeing some people (on this forum mostly) run into issues with the logic board needing a serial number or it being deactivated (?)...
