Can Bad Caps Show Up As A Bad Ram Stick Problem???

I just recapped a netvista motherboard..

before the recap, I put in 2 sticks of compatible ram, but the screen would freeze...

i took one stick out and tried them one at a time in each socket and isolated what I thought was the bad stick...

once i finished the recap, i tried each stick individually again and they both run fine...
i used memtest86 and prime95 and ran both tests for 24 hours each and came up with no errors....

Of course bad caps can cause memory errors.

Both the Memory and the Chipset as well as the CPU need really clean power to operate well. Bad caps can cause voltage and current fluctuations to any of the above that can easily cause the memory to malfunction or even damage it.
Even if the Chipset or CPU gets the bumpy electricity it can appear to be a Memory error.

Of course all that bumpy electricity can cause all sorts of other problems and damage too....

      KeriJane is right.

With your situation one stick may be more sensitive to crappy power than the other.
      Then you recap.
Both now have good power so both now work.
