Overall pic coming soon. For the CPU cap pic I'll have to take off the fan but they are Rubycons.

Also, does United Chemi-Con make bright blue low esr caps? I have a few Mercedes logo vent caps of that colour on my Dell board.

          Re: Is this bad?

leave the fan, its ok if they are just rubycons there. united chemicon does make blue caps. they will probably have a rectangle and then say the series like KZE or something.

Chris, a while back you posted this :

560uF 4v (the cap). And my confuser now boots up and is stable. Just had to clear CMOS and take out my Linksys wireless card. Thanks for the clarification, Neo. Now i just need to borrow a DVM....
what is the problem with the pc now? did it have boot problems after the above event.

                Re: Is this bad?

No problems at all. The wireless card I just needed to take out. Don't really need wlan anymore now that I don't have broadband.

                  Re: Is this bad?

i wouldnt bother recapping it then at the moment. if you have boot or stability problems again later then it would be worth considering. i have those yellow caps on several boards which are working fine for quite a few years. the rubycons and chemicon will be fine.

basically what i dont recommend is to take a working board and then recap it as your first attempt at recapping and then nuke it accidentally. non working boards are different cos you have nothing to lose.

in response to your question i have seen those yellow caps commonly replaced by 820uf 6.3 on different board revisions, so 1000uf 6.3 would be great also. The thing is that when you see 25v nearby you have to be careful that the p4 12v line is not running through the caps, although i would not expect that they would be running the yellow ones rated for 4v at 12v instead.

if you are still interested in recapping then get a mobo with badcaps as a project and then recap it to learn the technique.

what happened to the broadband? it is dissapointing to have to go back to dialup...

                    Re: Is this bad?

Broadband just suddenly stopped working and a Comcast tech couldn't get it back. I got my Digikey catalog yesterday and out of curiosity I looked up the Nichicon series of the caps next to the yellow ones. It's VR, which according to Digikey catalog, is an 85°C rated part and not low ESR. How could they get away with this (not putting low ESR caps on a motherboard)?

Kodak Lumia 150 projector Part Identification - Power Button
                      by Mufasa
I have a Kodak Lumia 150 projector and the power switch fell off the circuit board when the button was pushed. The power switch itself is missing and I can't figure out where to find the replacement.
Anyone familiar with where to find this type of button and how to source it?...

However I need help with a Kodak Printer Kodak All in One Easyshare ESP7. or an ESP 5250 but happy to try anything.

Some years back I got these two printers off freecycle and one came with new cartridges In sealed box ( fit both printers)
I have just got round to trying to get them working and find that Kodak gave up on personal printers
and will not even look at any queries since 2012 !!

The printhead on the ESP 7 was dried out but I am gradually getting that unclogged, so working on the main problem

Help with trying to fix phone that is not charging (Pics inside)
                      by SluggerB
I have two TCL A30 phones.

Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.

New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone

My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone....

The off/on/auto switch was busted so i forced it into auto mode and now the blue light comes on but i don’t get any audio output. Does anyone one have any experience repairing this amplifier? I looked it over, checked some the of output transistors, some of the power resistors and cleaned that nasty conductive epoxy glue stuff off but not having much luck in the trouble shooting department.

I did however find a part of the PCB that was discolored from heat...
