    Non Working DM-1800 Digital MultiMeter?

Recently removed 2 Digital MultiMeters from storage. When turned on after installing new 9V batteries both did not work.

Was guessing that the electrolytic capacitors need reforming so Googled and found "Reforming Electrolytic Capacitors"
    http://www.vcomp.co.uk/tech_tips/reform_caps.htm

Followed the instructions and one started working.

The other still shows the same 989 display (with changes of decimal point depending on the selector position.)

Have not yet taken it apart

It is same as "Brand New Digital Multimeter DM-1800" http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=300532580

Did a forum search to check if anyone had posted about finding "Bad Caps" in a Digital MultiMeter but found nothing.

    Appreciate any suggestions!!!

    Thanks

    Ken

JLA forums is denying my browser, and I'm not going to conform to their standards. What brand DMM is this?

I'd look into making sure the select switch contacts are still clean too.

Ahh... Epiphany works. I think they're being too draconian on browser versions.
Looks like a no-name brand meter, I'd look into that selector switch first then.

Looks the same as the typical dm830b meter, have you cleaned the zebra strip connecting to the display?

Hmm... maybe it is time to update. Been using the Firefox ESR, but even weather.com now doesn't want to deal with it...

But, Weather.com didn't complain at all with Opera 12.18!

It honestly looks like the new update of Weather.com has crappy browser sniffing.

Reminds me of web sites displaying a message accusing you of using an outdated Internet Explorer, when using a new browser or bullshit like that.....
