polyester film odd problem: mold?

What would cause caps to grow crystals and the jacket to fall off?
I never seen this before, has anyone here seen this?

mylar caps,
maybe the aluminium is being attacked by something.

I have seen this type of corrosion before. High humidity and warm air is usually to blame. Do you live in a coastal area?

I see that your are from Chilliwack B.C. potential source of salt air moisture. It may be a problem related to a certain manufacturer of the polymer coating epoxy. Not all polyester foil caps have this problem.
