    Are they bad?

    Hello,

I hope i can get some insight from the experts.

All of a sudden i get system instabilites with my qdi kudoz 7 mainboard.
I took a look at the mainboard and a cap looks suspicious.
Since i am not am expert on this, maybe someone else could to take a look.

What do you think, is this the troublemaker ?

I am thinking abut the second one from the bottom.

Do you have a photo of the ones around the CPU voltage regulators? (should be next to the cpu socket)

    That one does look toasted...

actually the one next to it looks a bit bulged as well but might be visual distortion from the pic.

Licon is a well known bad cap brand. It would be recommended to recap all those Licon 1000uf 6.3V. The spacing between those caps is nice so shouldnt be too hard to recap them. That J.D. cap 470uf, what is the voltage?

You have some big green caps also, what is the brand/rating. would be nice to see another pic.

      Welcome to the forums.

The 2 caps I circled in your pic are clearly bulging and bad, remember, it only takes one bad one to make a board unstable, there's 2 right there.

I'd replace all 1000uF and up. That'll cure it of it's instabilities.

Thank you for all your answers!
I gave the board a friend of mine who can solder to replace the defective caps.

Since it was asked for i made some more pictures:

Today i got the board back, and what can i say, everything seems to work okay! I have to make some more tests, but didn't have any crashes so far.
my friend tested the capacitors and he told me that one had 700 of 1000 microfarad left and the other one only 500.
He also showed me one from his collection that was looking perfectly from the outside but was dried out. I hope that never happens to my board.

He told me the replacement was difficult, because there were lots of small
            paths around the soldering points.

The small cap on the last pic had 10V if i am not mistaken (the print was very tiny)

            Thanks to everyone who answered!

I'd still reccomend replacing, at a minimum, all of the ones of the same brand... if these failed, what makes you think every other identical one isn't about to fail as well?

Replacing two caps a month would get very tiresome.

yeah i agree, that was not even half the job done. Anyway if you are happy for now good luck to you. Prolly we see you back later.

The small cap i was interested because it is small but has vents on the top. So it is a 470uf 10V. Maybe even a candidate for failure even though it is small but we will see.

The big green caps I could not see the brand from your photos cos you took the photos each time from the wrong side. maybe you will be lucky with them.

nice photos by the way.....and a friend with a capacitance meter and a soldering iron is a friend indeed.

Dell Latitude 7420 - Touchscreen not working since Mainboard replacement
                  by Mirenia
                  Hi everyone,

I've got a little "problem child": my Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1, which had a faulty mainboard.
I replaced it, but ever since, the touchscreen no longer works — and honestly, I’m running out of ideas…

In Windows Device Manager, I just see an I2C HID Device with error code 10. Sporadically, the touchscreen is recognized correctly for just a few seconds, but I haven’t been able to determine under which circumstances this happens.

The touchscreen also doesn’t work in UEFI/BIOS, although it’s enabled...

MASTER TL240 and new mainboard LW36BKC01
                  by orcic
                  Hello,
I have an old MASTER TL-240 LED TV. Since it stopped working and it had a DVB-T receiver that is being dismissed in Italy, I've decided to replace the mainboard with a DVB-T2 one.
The original problem was that when switching on the TV, the power LED was transitioning from red to steady blue, without showing video or audio.
After checking some voltages on the power supply board (HKL-240101-B Rev. 1.4, HKL from now on) someone suggested me to replace the mainboard.
Now I have some doubts about how to connect the new mainboard to the old power supply.
                  First of...

Vizio M43-C1 - How closely do I need to match the mainboard number?
                  by Devonavar
I have a Vizio M43-C1 stuck in a reboot loop with no backlight.

I've tested all the voltage rails coming out of the power supply and they are "normal" for this model (PS_ON & DIM go high when turned on, BL_ON & 3D_ON are close to zero due to backlight power flowing through the mainboard, 5VSB is 5V, and 12V is 19V, which is apparently normal for this board).

Basically, I get similar results to Garry in this post: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80346

So, I've ruled out the PSU for now.

                  The reboot loop...

                  by Malva
                  Hi everyone,
I'm trying to repair my LG 49UB850V TV (WebOS 1.0, UHD model from 2014).
                  Mainboard model: EAX65684604
                  PCB marking: EBT62954607
SPI chip: Winbond W25X20CLNIG Problem description:

Originally, the TV would turn on (backlight and LED OK if I force them on), but it shut down as soon as any input was received from the IR sensor or remote. The backlight and power board were working fine.

After testing and verifying the voltages (DRY ON, PWR ON, 12V/24V rails), I suspected a corrupted SPI firmware. What I tried so far:

QN65QN90A - Mainboard MLCC failed - now bootloop
                  by l0lhaxz1
                  Hi

I have a QN65QN90A which was purchased around launch I guess making it about 1.5-2 years old... had been working fine until a few days ago, simply went black and would no longer turn on (at all). No standby light and no typical PSU relay click etc. Absolutely dead.

Pulled it apart without doing much research first, suspecting the power supply as it had a faint buzz (I guess due to the forthcoming found short), investigated PSU for some time and concluded there was no fault that I could spot with the board removed.

Came to learn after a bit more research...
