    What About Recapping Existing Rubycons?

I have a few KG7 boards that are still fully functional, but have the lesser MBZ/3300uF Rubycons installed in the VRM. The two big filter caps are Rubycon ZL/4700uF.

The remainder are TEAPO which will be recapped without reservation. I'm just curious if the MBZ should also be replaced as a matter of course.

      OMG!!!!!

MBZ is THE capacitor that all other motherboard capacitor are compared to.

Re: What About Recapping Existing Rubycons?

Up until Polymer caps came out (and some other manufacturers caught up with Rubycon in their electrolytics) the MBZ series was THE best cap you could get.

MBZ is an old series. Early on it was THE choice on high end server boards and they are STILL found in the VRM's on premium boards that haven't switched to polymer caps.

MCZ is their 'replacement' and only came into being to compete with polymer market.

        Umm..
NO, you don't replace MBZ "as a matter of course".
You say: "Whew,,,, there's some I don't have to replace!"

Thanks for the tips. I have several KG7 boards equipped with MBZ... evidently these are later model boards that ABit produced after they got the shit slapped out of them with class action suits over bad caps... All these KG7 work... but they have a ton of TEAPO in the smaller support caps. I will replace 470uF and higher, as I always do, and leave the MBZ alone (and say whew).

Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
            by proxneo
            Dear reader

I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

            3 x 470uF 10VDC
            3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
            4 x 47uF 50VDC
            8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
            1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
            5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

            Which...

Recapping KRK VXT6 without original datasheets
            by slerner
I'm desperate to save my pair of 2007 KRK VXT6 studio monitors, one of which died.
Hoping for an easy fix, I bought a pair of new-old-stock replacement main boards. I installed one & it was DOA. Tried the other, also DOA. I suspect that 15 years in a Maltese warehouse dried out the electrolytic caps. I tried replacing just the two largest caps, which didn't help. Except to confirm that the old ones wouldn't reach infinite resistance & were a gram underweight.
Q: How do I match the caps, since there's no series marked on the originals and no circa-2007 catalog or datasheets...

Delta DPS-300AB-24b 300 Watt ATX PSU recapping
            by momaka
Figured I’d separate the recapping details of this PSU in a different thread so that the information can be easier to find. To be more specific, this thread is about recapping of the Delta DPS-300AB-24b, shown here. All details about the build quality of that PSU are posted there.

Here is the PSU, just to see what we are dealing with:

And here is a cap diagram:

Let’s break it down what goes where…

Recapping a Bell Expressvu 9242 satellite receiver
            by goldbird78
Hi All, I am recapping a Bell Expressvu satellite receiver due to the known issues with swollen caps. I want to use Nichicon or Panasonic caps...Couple questions

            1) is low ESR & low impedance the same thing ?
            2) Am I safe using low or super low impedance capacitors as a replacement everywhere ?
            3) I have read that you can go higher on voltage with replacements. for an example if the originals are 820uf 10v could I put 820uf 25v without any issues ?

            MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0)
            by ssl6
            Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker, but I think this is my first time posting.

Just looking for some assistance on identifying some suitable replacement capacitors for an MSI K7T266 Pro (Ver. 1.0). I just got my hands on two of them actually, both working but one has some visibly bulging capacitors and the other has a few that I can't tell for sure if they're bulging because it's faint at best if they are.

I'll be honest I don't fully understand much on capacitor spec sheets beyond voltage and capacitance but I can solder like nobodies business so I've...
