        Some models.
        Usually called them "Revision Controlled" the last few years.
        I have some Itox Revision Controlled 855GME chipset boards that are really well built.

        Age probably matters too. Itox was slow to adjust for the 'Caps Plague' and I'm pretty sure the company changed hands within the last 2 years.

            On devices such as set-top boxes and DVD players with a separate power supply board, I replace all of the non-quality electrolytics (e.g. unknown brands) on this board.
            For those which has the power supply on the same board, I replace all of the primary side units, along with the units before the output inductor, and those close to the output inductor of each rail, as well as units close to a DC-DC converter.
            My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

                i found 2 bad 470uf tantalum in cpu sircuit making short .

                but i only have 380uf tantalum can i replace them with electrolytic caps .

                BenQ GW2450HM - Panel is partially dimmed, works for 2 hours after replacing few caps

                Issue: Panel is partially dark or dimmed, left side is okay (see photos attached).

                Trial: Replaced three visibly bad capacitors on the power supply board (see photos).

                First result: Monitor worked for two hours only. Two capacitors bulged again.

                Diagnosis: After replacing those capacitors the monitor was connected via HDMI cable to a laptop. Laptop was connected to power supply and charging. Power cable was removed from the laptop end and put back. Maybe this was a coincidence but since unplugging the power cable it was noted that the panel had darkened...

                I have power adaptor(220V/input, 12V 1.2A/output) which has symptom of fluctuating output DC voltage between 11.5V-12.2V.
                So I opened its plastic case and when switched it on, I heard constant tik tik sound from inside its PCB.
                I measured DC voltage between negative and positive pin of the largest capacitor(400v 10uf) and it was measured contant 300V.
                I also measured ESR value of all capacitors and I noticed that one of capacitor(KMG 16v 470uf), which located in the secondary side, have high ESR value(10 ohm),So I replaced it with same specification NXH capacitor....

                Hello Again, so i'm bringing back this Zumax PSU from the gutless thread and going to be doing some modifications, and also putting it into a PC i'm going to throw together out of spare parts to see how long it lasts.

                So the first thing i did was fill in the missing filtering, by replacing the cheap common mode choke with a real one and adding a 470nf X2 capacitor in the open capacitor spot, i then replaced the fake Y-class capacitors with real ones, i also swapped out the mismatched primary caps with a pair of Aishi WK 470uf 200v caps, both of which test around 520uf. I also swapped...
