Are these the right caps....? Alternatives?

    Hello,

I'm repairing the motherboard on a friend's Toshiba Satellite L305-S5919, and was hoping someone on the forums would be kind enough to help verify or double-check that I'm buying the correct caps.

    Here's the data:

    Motherboard: Intel 6050A2170401-MB-A03
    Replacing: NEC/TOKIN OE907 Proadlizer (900uF/2.5V)

After scanning several blogs, most folks recommend replacing the craptastic Proadlizer with Tantalum capacitors. However, different folks report using different numbers and specs, and I haven't seen any mentions of this exact motherboard. As I'm clueless with the down-n-dirty electrical jargon and whatnot, I'd rather poll the experts here than take a chance.

The closest matches I've found are posts for replacing the same Proadlizer, here on BadCaps and on Tom's Hardware. Here, it is replaced with 1x 100uF and 5x 10uF, and on Tom's it's replaced with 4x 470uF/2.5V each and 2x of 220uF/2.5V. However, I'm having a difficult time finding these exact capacitors.

So, do I NEED these exact capacitors? Or, can I play with the voltage, uF, ESR? If so, within what ranges?

Here's the numbers again for quick ref:
    Proadlizer: 900uF/2.5V
    Option 1: 1x 100uF and 5x 10uF (2.5V?)
    Option 2: 4x 470uF/2.5V each and 2x of 220uF/2.5V

Sorry for my ignorance. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thank you,

    ~Lokki

Old Boston Acoustics subwoofer repair, BJT alternatives
    by staze
Working on an older Boston Acoustics HPS10SE, and while verifying voltages, I noticed one of the PSU BJTs is getting excessively hot and the voltage is dropping out on the 15V rail. Not sure that's actually an issue (I don't have everything plugged in, so maybe something is saturating on the positive end and dragging that rail down and the BJT overheating is cutting out).

But, figure I need to buy some NP capacitors from mouser anyway, so might as well replace these. They're a H669A and H649A. Pretty "meh". They test fine out of circuit, but I can't really put a load on...

    Alternatives to Power-Z?
    by R7027
    Hello everyone!

I am looking for an alternative to the Power-Z USB power meter, like the model KM001. Are there no alternatives to this? Other than other models from the same company? This is a very popular meter that repair pros use.

I have a very simple and inexpensive USB power meter. I think it costed around 20 - 30 USD. I'm looking to upgrade it to one that has the logging and graphing functions like the one I mentioned above. Something in the same price range of 80 - 100 USD. Any suggestions?

I actually have a DC power supply that has a USB port...

    Triac alternatives
    by Nevillet
    Hi All,

I'm trying to repair a coffee machine where the triac that controls the 240VAC water pump has failed and is latched on.

The water pump is controlled either on or off.

The triac is a surface mount BTA204S-800E. (datasheet attached)

I have a selection of other non surface mount triacs and need advise on selecting a substitute.

    The triacs include BTA16, BT131, BTA208, BTA12, BT138, BTA06

    Any help would be great.

    Many thanks.

    Hello!
I have a Samsung UE55JU6850 with a defective display (cracked during removal for backlight issue).
    Label from the panel attached.
I have been looking for a UE55JU6850 with a different defect for some time, so that I can take the display or use my working parts.
Unfortunately, so far I have only been able to find working TVs or ones with a broken display.
Can I use the BN94-10165M mainboard in another TVs? Which "series"?

    215-0752007 Alternatives
    by LukeDavis
    Hello!

as part of my hobbies i like to practice and toy around with older equipment, as such i have two older notebooks with AMD 215-0752007 Chipsets, both units have died, with only one (a G62-a15SA) still working if "Baked" first.

i believe i had a discussion with somebody a while back elsewhere about something similar, while browsing the forum i discovered there are other chips which can work but require slight board/bios modification.

i also know that some chips from later years have better reliability but checking a certain online supplier...
