    Capacitor Question

I buy non working monitors to repair and sell them. I have noticed that a seven year old monitor that have low ESR value on Capxcon, Suscon, Lelon and most of the caps that are listed on Badcap .com.

Should I trust those capacitors that look and test fine or should I just replace all caps? I have been doing this for about a year and so far I have a good track record with no monitor returns.

    Thanks

Since you live in the USA, you have access to high quality capacitors from reputable distributors for relatively little cost (especially if you buy in quantities of 10 or 50).

With that in mind, I saw this quote recently ...

Panasonic caps fm,fr,fc. Looks like I better change them all good or bad

I save the non bloated bad quality name caps for uncertain projects or as "test" caps.

                Title:
Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

                Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.

                Procedure performed:
                - Removed backplate
                - Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
                - Reapplied thermal compound
                - Reassembled card

                Observed behavior after reassembly:
                - GPU powers on and operates normally under...

Dell monitor PSU vs Dell laptop PSU
                by keepread
                Hi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

Bipolar capacitor for vintage Apple CRT monitor
                by tony359
                Good day all,

I have a question about some old monochrome Apple monitors.

Inside those monitors there is one bipolar capacitor. From the schematics I have it's part of the horizontal linearity circuit.

A friend replaced a bipolar 4.7uF 25V capacitor with a Nichicon bipolar 4.7uF 25V. The cap popped after about one hour. The new capacitor was much smaller than the original one but that's not a surprise as the original one was from 1980. (I am not sure whether the original was was actually 4uF and was replaced with a 4.7uF?)

                The new capacitor:...

                AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
                by wattage
                Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

                Hi Everyone

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.
Sometimes need to power and off again to restore the display but...
