    Re: Weird Yellow Caps

Yes, they are solid polymer units.

My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

that 360 is having video card issues, i would send it back to ms to be repaired, and the rattle is normal just a position sensor.

the current theory is that the boards did not get baked long enough allowing the bga chips to move a little when they get hot, or getting so hot that it is desoldering the video chips, some people were have a little luck with a heat gun rebaking the board

Given that these are both 820UF, why do you recommend 2200 replacements?

Seem to recall an earlier post recommending larger values for replacing solid polymers with electrolytics.

Is this the case and what is the rule of thumb to use in this instance?

Yes, this is the case there. Solid polymer caps have usually very low esr & high ripple current capability compared with standard low ESR caps.
This is especially true for the caps with lower capazitance.
Therefore it is recomended to match the ripple & ESR of the polymer cap and the lektrolytic replacement.
Usually you have at least to double the capacitance of an standard low ESR eletrolytic cap to reach similar low ESR and high ripple capability.
