Re: quick question!
If he is holding this board and examining the questionable caps, it should be clearly marked on a long stripe down the side = neg. for a large electrolytic.
If the cap has been removed the stencil layout on the board should show the polarity.
There are hundreds of pictures of caps here for the looking and motherboards as well.
If your dad is more than just curious then a multimeter is something everyone should have handy.Measure continuity to ground or voltage on the live caps.JimComment

Re: quick question!
if there is a row of many caps in a line then chances are they may be in parallel (so all the + are connected together and same with the -)
why does he want to know?
if they are in parallel you can put one double capacitance cap every other space instead if you like.Comment

Re: quick question!
^^
A lot of boards are reverse marked. The white shaded side on some actually indicates the POSITIVE pole. Asus and Dell are bad about doing that, and if you're not careful, you'll install them backward. Like mentioned, note the stripe on the actual cap, and reinstall the same way.<--- Badcaps.net Founder

by willis6732Hello,
This macbook wont turn on. Only a quick fan spin. Sometimes fans spin a few second. Somtimes they spin fast for a few seconds. Other than that no signs of life
All the Coils on the board have voltage and battery charges fine as well.
I noticed this not sure if it is suspicious:
PPVCC_CPU_PH1 / CPUCORE_SW1 = 40 Ohms (Flex Bv shows 90 Ohms)
=.023 Diode Mode (Flex BV shows .090)
I would appreciate som support in the diagnosis.
Th anks,

Symptom: my Fujitsu E19W-5 emits a white flash from the CCFL lamps for a split second after being plugged to AC, then it behaves as if unplugged from mains: no backlight, no image on the LCD, no LED light on the front bezel; it remains in this status indefinitely. Re-pugging the AC cable repeats the behavior.
I have fixed it by replacing the four capacitors on the power supply circled in the photo. It is functional without defects now. This PCB seems identical to the Fujitsu E19-5 that was discussed here for the same symptoms, for which replacing C910 alone was sufficient....-

by xeejemHope everyone is doing well here. I have been troubleshooting on why my charger isn't giving any charge. At the TNY IC, I did a volt test on pin 2 with closest capacitor ground lead and it is giving 0 volt. Pin 4 and ground is giving around 2v. The capacitor is getting 160v from what I can tell. Those big diodes are tested on board. I don't find any shorts. Do you know how else I can find the culprit? Please bare with my lack of skills....2 Photos

by jimbofzi have replaced many leds strips that have changed blue when they are worn
and the new replacements are perfect white
but when fault finding do quantum leds always look blue? - Loading...
