Does bad caps are related to sound problems?

I have an Aopen MX4GR motherboard, and it has four bulked caps, but it was working fine until...

Yesterday I started it and boot up Xp without no problems, but after every time it finished booting the OS, XP notified me that I have a new PCI modem on my PCI port 0 (witch is empty and I don't have any PCI modem installed) and the sound was gone, with drivers and installation program. I tried to re-install the sound driver, and in the end of the installation a message shows up saying that the driver wasn't found.

Is this a bad capacitor related problem? Help me please!!!

The most correct answer is: may be. None can absolutely assure you that this is caused by the badcaps and noting else. The thing is, if badcaps are on a board any problem it shows could be caused by that, as without proper filtering, any component on the board could be distorted to the point that it don`t work anymore. But if the badcaps are the only problem and nothing else is already harmed by the unfiltered voltage you only would find out in recapping it.

My rule of thumb is as stranger the problem, the nore likely it is caused badcaps.
I would give it a go.

If caps are bad, they need to be replaced anyway.
