    Replacement for oddball size KZG

Doing a repair on an AOpen board for a client. Replacing the line of KZG 6.3V 2200uf caps along the CPU. Now I ordered a set of Nichicon HZ from here, not really thinking about size, as the spec sheet for both the HZ and the KZG list them as 10x20. However, once I got the HZs, I realized they look wider that the KZGs on the board. Sure enough the KZGs on the board are 8x20, this size is not listed at all on the KZG spec sheets I have found online. I tried to make the HZs work, but there just isn't enough room. Looking around, the only thing I could find in a 8x20 are Nichicon HM caps (and ebay is the only place I could find them for sale). So now my question is this. The HM caps are rated 16/1950. The KZG caps are rated at 13/2550, but that is for the 10x20. I would assume the 8x20 ones I have would have a higher ohm and lower ripple rating, so my thinking is the HM caps should work okay. What do some of the experts here think and does anyone have actual specs for these 8x20 KZGs?

    No.
Within a series, ESR and Ripple are related to the can size - NOT uf or volts.
The 8x20mm KZG is only .021/1870
    .
The HM 8x20mm at .016/1950 is in fact an upgrade.
    .
    .
Look at -ALL- the 8x20mm or -ALL- the 10x20mm in either the HM or KZG data sheets and you'll see what I mean about can size.

lets see some pics of those, I have never seen a 2200uF 6.3v KZG 8x20....infact I haven't seen an 8mm 2200uF cap since the KA7 days......

If they are indeed 8mm, stick an 1800uF 6.3v 8x20 in there, it would work fine....and sure beat cramming the caps and lead spacing...

Re: Replacement for oddball size KZG

        I ~think~ I've run across 2200uF 6.3v KZG 8x20mm before, but I won't swear to it.
        .
        A lot of semi-recent FSP PSUs use 8mm 2200uF 6.3v Capxon.
IIRC they are KF series and not in the data sheet.
The mentioned HM is about the only option when a 10mm won't fit. (And they often won't.)

Are those actually legit pannies? I've seen some really good fakes... What series are they?

FJ data sheet shows an 8x20mm 6.3v 2200uF.

                I'll be damned....haha

The last 2200@6.3 8x20 I saw were the crappy old JPCON and Jackcon in the Abit KA7's, circa 1999 +/-....and those were garbage. They remind me of the 4700uF 10x30 fukkyou caps in so many antec PSU's that I always replaced with 3300@16 10x30....I think I've also seen those in ltec in some acbel imac psu's as well.

That depends on what the specific cap does.
Sometimes uF matters. - And uF goes down as caps age...
                          .
                          You said 'by the CPU'.
If these are Vcore caps as long as the total uF is over about 5500uF you should be okay because you'd be lowering ESR too.
[And no, don't use less caps to get 5500uF. That would raise total ESR.]
                          .

                                You have 7 so 7x1800uF = 12600uF.
                                You'll be fine.
                                .
P4 and socket 604 & 771 & 775 etc.. only need about 5500uF in Vcore to be stable.
They end up with more uF in aid of using more caps in parallel to get ESR lower.
It's mostly about the ESR in Vcore, not the uF.
                                .

Now lets say the 3.3v rail on the board only had 2200uF caps.
Lowering them to 1800uF would shorten the time they could 'hold up' power up during a brown-out type power surge.

                                      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Led TV Board Replacement, same part number and model, different size

                                      Hello my friends!
I have a question that I think you can answer and help me with!

I have a faulty main board from an led TV. And I found the same part number board and design but is from a 43" TV and I want to use it on a 65". On its stickers , all are the same except the wattage for the LEDs backlight, both state different watts and LED Voltages!

So I presume that the backlight inverter section from the replacement board has lower wattage then the original one, am I right?

My concern is that the board won't draw enough voltage to the bac...

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Kernel panics after screen replacement

Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

Unknown transformer : how to find a good replacement part ?

                                      Hello guys,

I would like a quite old but still good 800 W ATX PSU to be repaired. The problem was an extremely heavy coil whine coming from the small secondary transfomer on the PCB.

I desoldered it hoping the references on the upper side would allow me to find a adequate replacement part. Sadly the written references drove me nowhere but to the manufacturer (I-MAG). I sent them a message like a bottle in the see asking them to send me a datasheet of the transformer. And... They responded ! I received a kind of datasheet (see attachment) but my competencies do not allow...

                                      TV Model: Hitachi 40HYC42
                                      Power Supply: 17IPS71
                                      MainBoard: 17MB95M
                                      Panel: VES400UNDS-2D-NO3

When the set came in it was dead. Fuse was open primary side and the power mosfet was shorted. So I ordered a new power supply. Now it turns on, only displays "Hitachi" and then power off red and blue led flashing.

I had to modify the 0ohm resistors in the led backlight of the new PS like the original power supply.
Is there any variants on 17IPS71 power supply's?
