    Re: Nichilons?

Sapphire boards are made by PCPartner - which builds boards solder under many brands. Overclocker boards are only a small fraction of their business. Most of their boards are cheap (no useless things like 35 USB and firewire ports and 15 pseudo-RAID controllers) but good boards (although some have bad Licon caps).

      Re: Nichilons?

As has already been posted, the caps are original Nichicon HD. A new series was introduced sometime in 2001/2002 with no plastic sleeve, clear lacquer on bare bare aluminium, and printed lettering on top of the cap. Apparently, this is more environmentally friendly when recycled.

I have several of these, and I can confirm that they're excellent caps, and would also look cool when installed on decked-out pimp-rigs with blue LEDs and the works (not my style, though). My only concern is that the lacquer may scratch more easily than a polymer sleeve, rendering the can more likely to short with something like an inductor lead or similar in the vicinity. This should not be an issue on a board with good layout practices.

linuxguru - I share you fear about possible shortcut too
However as long, as no-one solder on the mobo badly or do not bend something too much - things should be okay

I certainly do not plan modify this one as much, as I did with my DFI LP B mobo...

          Watercooling NB on A9RX480 Grouper

nForce2 NB chipset has holes distance 59mm.
nForce4 SB chipset has holes distance 53mm.
Tought, Sapphire Gouper A9RX480 mainboard have the NB holes distance at 46.5mm, so it won't fit with anything standard. I have to come with my own way to do it...

          First, I made this:

...and then I had to cut out this overlaping part of the block:

...so it will fit now. VERY tightly, but it fit. Ugh

So, watercooling Sapphire A9RX480 IS possible - tought aren't easy, but hey - that's the difference between mens and boys. Boys use aircooling, mens use watercooling
And there are even supermens, who use phasecooling...

PS. I have also second A9RX480 Grouper mobo, so if anyone interesed in taking pics - I could do it easily. One of the ram caps are even the best caps on Earth ATM - Nichicons HZ ones...! Whoooooa! I love the mobo :

            Sapphire Radeon RX5700XT IR35217 configuration
            by PeqNP
            Hi,

I have a faulty Sapphire Radeon RX5700XT with a short on the 3.3V PCIe rail. I was able to trace the short to the IR35217 which is responsible for managing VCore. The issue with these controllers is, that they need to be configured. I managed to get hold of a copy of PowIRCenter as well as a compatible USB flash device. What remains is, that I don't have the IR35217 configuration for that card. Does someone here own this card and can share this configuration? As this is a reference card design I would suspect that any other reference card would do the trick as well. The configuration...

Insignia NS-LCD019-09 issue: Power light turns blue for 3 seconds, the flashes red before going solid read again
            by cajoeg
Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

sapphire 5700xt NB691 buck wrong output
            by pedrolopesbe
            Hello there!

So, I have this sapphire nitro+ that is a pain as there's no diagrams of this specific model anywhere. Put that together with the fact I'm just learning.

This buck converter is giving me 275 mV output when it should give 1.8V, I'm not sure what exactly modulates this converter and I'm going to spend the day learning about converters.
Could be a faulty one, but I've already replaced it one time, have just another one left. I don't wanna mess up the other one if this is something damaging the component when I turn the card on.

            Ah, I don't...

What is this component? RX570 4GB SAPPHIRE PULSE
            by tls 123
Hello! I am a newbie and I'd like to ask for your help regarding a certain part in my RX570 4gb Sapphire Pulse... I had it diagnosed and the two technicians said that the cause of my bad gpu (shorted) is because of this certain component which they have no reserve for. I have the option to find a donor board that I can bring to them or buy a new component and have them replace it, I tried to search for the component but I cant quite find it... some text is written AEAH 037. Please, and thank you for helping!...
