Why does this Hermei cap have Panasonic's T vent on it?

    Hi,

    I saw this in an L&C LC-B450 E power supply. It is a Hermei 1000uf 10V 10MM cap with Panasonic's T vent.

Now, why does Hermei cap have the T vent that Panasonic has?

(Sorry, had to take this using a 6-year old Logitech Webcam)

Or someone just OEMs a PILE of T-vent cans and sells them bulk...

That T-vent is different from Panasonic's T-vent. Panasonic's is a single arc, slightly concave upwards. This one has two arcs, concave downwards. At least, that's what the pic looks like.

I am comparing that Hermei cap to a genuine Panasonic cap right now, and by my eyes the Hermei cap, at the top of the T it is curved a little bit more than the Panasonic. Almost identical.

          What is Hermei's usual vent?

several manufacturers use similar vents to others. agreed that hermei normally uses the honeycomb vent. i have seen them using the X vent also.

I've seen 1997 Sanyo with a similar vent. Also Jamicon.

                          by Eh546
I was looking to repair my Polk PSW125 subwoofer plate amplifier, i've checked around the web and it seems to be a capacitors problem.

Took apart the amp, and made a visual inspection, everything's seems fine, fuse ect no burn marks, but i noticed 3 caps that were a little bit bulged. One 400v 150uf, one 50v 47uf, and two 63v 47uf.

I noted each caps voltages and uf anyways, and made a list on digikey. Some recommended Nichicon and Panasonics ones (FR and FM) serie. So I tried to stay with the Panasonics FM-A serie.

I would like to know if the caps i selected...

Nichicon radials without the X vent?
                          by nmantas
I recently bought some Nichicon caps on eBay (yeah, I know). These are small 4x7 radial 16V 10uF caps. I feel they are fakes because the plastic pattern on the bottom and they don't have the X-vent stamped in the aluminum end and all the datasheets I have read indicate there is a vent(not exactly sure what series they are....or are supposed to be). I don't really care about the couple dollars wasted but when I let the seller know he thought they were real and he doesn't want to sell fakes. I thought I would do a little research and let him know. Is the lack of the characteristic X enough to prove...

                          by Hitto
Would you consider a slightly bulging capacitor defective if it measures perfectly and it is brand-new? To be honest, they are all equally like this: vent is not totally flat but they have very low E.S.R. and VLOSS is negligible.

So, everything seems perfect apart from the vent looking a bit "strange". They are genuine capacitors, BTW.

The bad thing is that they are 400V capacitors so testing them just to check how much they last would mean using them on the primary of a power supply, which means the risk of damaging the whole circuit.

                          What do you...

                          Capacitor brand identification
                          by j_pu
                          Hi there,
as this is my first real post, please forgive me if I do something wrong.

I found this brand of capacitor in a Technics A800MK2, an amplifier from the mid-90s. I don't recognize it, neither can I find something about them on the internet. It looks like "Purciom"? They got an T-type vent, like Panasonics. (In this amp, there are 3 brands of caps, this one, ELNA and Panasonic)

Maybe somebody knows something about their quality and their real name.
                          Thanks!...

I just acquired this portable aircon, history unknown. Its behaviour is quite strange:
                          • When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
                          • If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
                          • If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
                          • Display and buttons all behave normally aside from the
