Re: Abit KT7 Dropping PS2 and AGP Card

I've posted some pics of my KT7 board earlier in this post.

Pics of the graphics card - I can do that once I pull the thing out and return it - I'll do it tomorrow - but as its going back it aint really a problem :-)

Re: Abit KT7 Dropping PS2 and AGP Card

if its a p1 then they are more likely to be suffering from old age than being badcaps. personally i dont flash PII or below. chances are that the bios chips are low quality and the flash fails.

P1 (Pentium 1) are old. I would rather throw them in the trash than try to repair them. But, ronanmagee may still like his very old P1 motherboard andwants to bring it back to working order again. Does anybody know any online vendors that sell good low-ESR caps to where ronanmagee lives?

                Hey guys,

cheers for the reply ... the P1 only has 2 caps on it from what I can see ... I dont really care about it any more - bin is where I think it may go.

As for my keyboard probs, seems once I replaced my AGP card with a PCI one all works 100%.

The AGP card had a problem I thinks, the fan didnt start and this may have caused the problems. All going grand now with my 1.5GB of ram :-0

That's good to hear. 1.5GB is a lot of RAM, I only have 1GB of RAM!

Ah bit of bad news .... it wont recognise all the sticks of 512MB of ram. Tested each one individually and they all work, but putting in a combination it doesnt recognise any of them - system speaker just squeels at me :-(

                      Hey all,

Anyone know if I can avail of this?

Schonning V. ABIT Computer (USA) Corporation

Is it possible to get the caps replaced under this settlement ... I'm in the UK.

Seems that I've got till the 15th Feb 2006 to get this done? Any confirm/deny?

No, sorry, you can't. Because the class action was filed in US courts, it only applies to US citizens. (I wonder how they would treat US citizens living abroad?)

                            Happy days,
ABIT UK took the board in under RMA and are repairing it as I type - £12stg to cover the P&P - just have to wait and see what they return.

                            Regards,

Let's see what brand of caps they use to replace the failed caps on your board when you recieve it.

Oh my god - I just got this reply from ABIT UK regarding the use of Jackcon caps ...

We do not use jackcon capacitors, those Jackcon capacitors are the original
on the board and they will not fail, that is why we did not change it.

What am I meant to do now?

                                      yea, the jackon cap sucks.

                                        Hello to the forum.

My name is Christos, I am new to the forum here and i am posting from Greece.

So i have this old German sound card from Marian, called Trace Alpha. To be exact i have 2 of them and i use them professionally for my small FM radio station here. The first one works like a charm, but the second one does not work at all.

To be more specific in the same exact pc with windows 7 (i even tried 32bit) the one works while the other doesn't.

                                        Graphics Card mounting frame
                                        by Kemer
Hello, I removed the graphics card from my laptop and I want to heat it in the oven. What I want to ask is, is it okay to heat the card without removing the metal mounting frame on it?

As you can see in the photo, there is a plastic (black) gasket between the metal frame and the card. It sticks the frame tightly to the card.

I previously removed the metal frame while heating it, but it is quite difficult to separate it from the surface it is attached to. If there is no problem, I do not want to remove it.

What worries me right now is the possibility that...

EVGA Nu Audio Sound Card - Not Working
                                        by FZG
I have an EVGA Nu Audio sound card that is not working properly and I need some help diagnosing the fault (preferably by someone who owns this card and is willing to take some measurements).

The card sort of powers up (LED lights are coming on and the relais is clicking, some voltages are present) but it is not detected in Windows. I tried installing in two different PCs and tried several driver versions but the card was never detected anyway. So I thought this is probably not a driver / software-issue and then disassembled the card to take some measurements.

                                        I found...

Gigabyte Aorus 1080ti - card not initialising
                                        by benwaterson
                                        Hi there.

Have searched various forums but haven't come across the exact issue I am having.

Bought the 1080ti with a fault (randomly shutting down, black screen , fans full speed etc). Previous owner had replaced thermal pads but many were too thick on inspection.

I tested the card in windows, all loaded up ok. Put some load on the card and it crashed. GPU was reporting 92 degrees C at the time.

Switched the stock cooler out for an AIO water cooler from my 1080 FE, booted the card back up - temps were much better and allowed some load to be applied...
