    Re: Asus VW222U

Here are the pics of front and back. As for fp???? i think that is fp 801. i tested it and it reads 0.7 ohms. what does fp stand for?

The transformers both read 426 ohms on the secondary windings, with the secondary end unsoldered from the board and the 6 prong end still soldered to board.

Circled in yellow are the areas that are discoloured, which is where the inverter transformers are. i'm guessing it is heat that causes that discolouration.

ps thanks for the quick reply!

I have checked my fuse that's fine... there is a distinctive black mark on the back of the circuit board below one of the transformers?? it is the black box looking thing with 6 prongs on one side and 2 on the other T801 T802, ive tested the 6 posts and readings go like this on both transformers... 1-2 n/a 1-3 0.3 1-4 0.3 1-5 n/a 1-6 0.3 same as the other one as well as any other combination pins 2 and 5 dont give a reading

I tried sending some pictures through to add on here but cant seem to sort it out right now

ive just pulled one of the transformers off and i really not sure what im looking for but the board is discolored underneath it as well....

how did yours work out gabriel?
The problem with my board was the main transformer solder, since I could not find any defective parts I decided to to apply new solder and doing so the main transformer 'moved' and after that the screen worked perfectly and still does.

If I remember correctly my board also had dark brown areas that had been hot.

        FP stands for Pico Fuse.

          Re: Asus VW222U

Picture of the back of the board is not clear enough - the brown areas look pretty normal.
As a start just connect up the power supply and VERY CAREFULLY measure the voltage
at the legs of the BIG Cap.- Meter on 600vdc- could be 400vDC. If you get over 300v then set meter back at 200vdc and with the black lead on a ground with the red probe
test the pins on the socket that goes to the main board. post them along with any voltages listed for the socket on the board.

If you smell burning again switch off and try and locate where it is from BUT do not touch the board.

Sorry about that. I should have looked more closely earlier.u can't see it in the shot of the top. Hopefully replacing that cap will fix it.

                  hi guys.

I was wondering if any1 can help me find out what this little thing is called?

I think its just a ceramic capacitor, but when i google search the numbers on it, I get no relevant returns.

there are 2 of these, the other 1 is burnt black. I plan to replace both

I'd really appreciate any help, I use this monitor loads and cant afford a new 1 right now.

Ceramic cap 15J 3KV is 15Pf, 5% tolerance, 3000voltsEssential you get the same.

Sorry I didn't saw your reply, I wasn't expecting an answer in this thread instead of the PM.

I successfully opened my VW222s and I'll create a new topic asking for assistance.

                            Thanks!
