by Fool2coolHi all,
Been fixing this Samsung and feel so close to the end now, it presented with the second buffer down on the top board as being blown and some FETs on the y main short, pretty much the common failure mode it sounds like.
I've repaired the Y main and replaced the blown buffer, i now have a picture but two horizontal lines across the screen, my question is, is there an easy way to know if it's just an unsoldered pin on my replacement buffer or if it's another buffer with issues, or is it the panel.
Cheers guys... -
by HedisI don't want to hijack rowage's thread so I start my own.
A friend gave me a PS50Q97HD that quit working with a "bang and smoke".
Opened it up and directly saw a blown Y-buffer chip.
Measured the FET's on the Y-main and one was shorted and i replaced it.
One cap was also bad and is now also replaced. (se attached picture)
I desoldered the bad Y-buffer chip and tested the tv with just the lower Y-buffer in place. (didn't know that the image bus was delivered through the upper board at that point)
The panel lighted up... -

by reidy-Hi, I have taken in a 50" sammy plasma with the default clicking sound, upon inspection the q801 & 802 transistors legs were browned and the solder joints cracked so I reflowed them.
the fault reamins, I havnt tested for voltages yet but was wondering where to start, should I disconnect all sub board bar the main AV board and try power it up and see if it still trips out?
I have read somewhere that the sub 2 board on the PSU can fail what am I checking for? I grabbed a service manual for the TV but it wasnt much use with a very basic PSU trouble shooting... -
