    Bad Y-main and Y-buffers on a PS50Q97HD

I don't want to hijack rowage's thread so I start my own.

A friend gave me a PS50Q97HD that quit working with a "bang and smoke".

Opened it up and directly saw a blown Y-buffer chip.
Measured the FET's on the Y-main and one was shorted and i replaced it.
One cap was also bad and is now also replaced. (se attached picture)

I desoldered the bad Y-buffer chip and tested the tv with just the lower Y-buffer in place. (didn't know that the image bus was delivered through the upper board at that point)
The panel lighted up and I saw that the lower half was glowing.

I then tested with both the upper and lower buffer in place and only upper. (got picture on 3/4 of the top part with just the upper board in place for some second) but then something happened. (whole screen went dark)

All (or at least 7 of the 8) buffers got shorted and one more FET on the Y-main shorted again.

I just replaced all the FET's on the lower left heatsink and powered it up again without any Y-buffer boards installed. It hear a buzzing sound from the Y-main and the green LED is active on the Y-main.

The upper buffer board connector has the same voltages as the lower buffer connector.
The 60v i measure is going down the longer the TV is on. (and the buzzing gets louder and louder, I don't have the tv on for more than ~30sec)
No negative voltages are present at the connectors.

VS-voltage is 206v (as it should be) and all the other voltages is correct from the power supply board.
The white front power LED on the tv set blinks 6 times when power is applied.

    All help is appreciated.

Anybody who know what voltages I should find on the connectors to the Y-buffers?

Whirlpool PACF212HP W portable air conditioner, upper fan only turns slowly.
      by spleenharvester
I just acquired this portable aircon, history unknown. Its behaviour is quite strange:
      • When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
      • If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
      • If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
      • Display and buttons all behave normally aside from the

Panasonic 50VT65 Sparkling/misfiring pixels upper half of screen
      by skyvalley99
Recently my VT65 has started exhibiting sparking/misfiring pixels, it manifests as sparkling white pixels in the black area if there's brighter pixels in the same horizontal area (e.g. the smart viera boot screen, white credits on a black background).

On inspecting the screen closley you can see pixels misfiring in the upper area of the screen at all time, it just gets lost in normal content.

I've tried (without success) replacing the P/SS/SC board (refurbished boards) and re-calibrating the VSUS (including setting it to HIGH) but none has made a difference.

      TH-42PX75U upper Y-buffer source?
      by ngth82
      Hey guys -

      I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75U with bad upper Y-buffer - TNPA4184

Anyone know of a good source other than eBay (at ~$60-$70 bucks) or ShopJimmy (out of stock)? I picked up the unit for free. The upper half of the screen is black. The lower half works. Smells like a bad upper Y-buffer to me.

I'm going to pull the upper Y-buffer and ohm it out. Just trying to find a good source before i spend too much time on this unit.

      Thanks!
