Cornell Dubilier purchase Panasonic's Aluminum foil plant.

I think this news is relevant to the forum...

Panasonic plant's end foiled; Cornell Dubilier purchases its assets

Cornell Dubilier Foil, a longtime customer of Panasonic Electronic Devices Corporation of Americas' aluminum foil plant in Forks of the River Industrial Park, has purchased the aluminum foil plant's assets and resumed production of the specialty product used in electronics. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

    ...

"They've been an excellent customer to work with over the last 20 years," Brandon said of Cornell Dubilier. "It has worked out well for both parties. Cornell is a very strong company.

Cornell Dubilier's new plant processes specially treated aluminum foil used in instrumentation that produces power. The foil is a key component in aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Brandon said Cornell Dubiliers products are used in large turbines that produce wind energy and in some solar energy equipment.

Panasonic said Cornell Dubilier decided to buy its foil division when Panasonic decided to end U.S. production of formed aluminum capacitor foil, which created a foil supply chain problem for Cornell.
I don't know too much about this, but that sounds to good news for me.

    Cheers!

It's good that the plant stays open and people stay employed. It's good for Cornell Dubilier because now they're manufacturing their own foil for their products and so should have no supply issues (and costs will be lower).
    Ludicrous gibs!

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

How many of you have seen failed Panasonics!?
      by keldeo
In my experience, I've seen failed Taiwan/Chinese caps, obviously as I'm sure all of us had. I've also seen the defective Nichicon and Chemi Con series. Even seen failed Rubycons (MBZ I think?) if they are exposed to a lot of stress and heat. I've never seen failed Panasonics until now! Not just one, but 3! Also in seemingly random locations on the motherboard. Next to the RAM and CPU, but not t part of the VRM. It felt like I spotted a Unicorn, so I had to make this post. Motherboard is a IPIBL-LA. OEM from HP.

Unfortunately, I do not know the history behind this PC, it also had...

Polk PSW125 capacitors choices for a beginner.
      by Eh546
I was looking to repair my Polk PSW125 subwoofer plate amplifier, i've checked around the web and it seems to be a capacitors problem.

Took apart the amp, and made a visual inspection, everything's seems fine, fuse ect no burn marks, but i noticed 3 caps that were a little bit bulged. One 400v 150uf, one 50v 47uf, and two 63v 47uf.

I noted each caps voltages and uf anyways, and made a list on digikey. Some recommended Nichicon and Panasonics ones (FR and FM) serie. So I tried to stay with the Panasonics FM-A serie.

I would like to know if the caps i selected...
