Hello, I'm jrb0952. I'm experienced former Tech on Networks, PC's, Laptops, Printer etc.... I'm older, started my career in 1979 retired in 2012. Still messing with equipment, more for fun or to keep busy. Recently upgraded a HP8470p to Windows 11 using one of the unsupported techniques. Seems to function fine however it created a password for the bios. Didn't have a password for the bios before, so I need a .bin file to reset based on what I'm reading. HP not giving it out anymore, not for a while, but my sister doesn't want to trash the laptop, not sure why, sot to keep her happy does anyone have the .bin file stored away on a flash drive. Any help would be appreciated.Comment

I guess I'll throw my hat into the ring now.
I go back a way with Topcat, while he was still in the electronics biz, when a 200 mhz processor was a sight to behold. I've been using computers since the late 80's (first machine was an 8 mhz 286 with a 20 meg hardcard) and am mostly a networking guy with a helping of programming and a side of hardware.
Most of my involvement around here is behind-the-scene stuff, mostly setting up different services, and as always, needling topcat for still running windows.
Anything else you want to know, feel free to ask.Comment

Hi I'm Computertoast, or Toast for short. I like repurposing hardware and systems I get for cheap, hoarding RAM, and repairing broken electronics when I get the time. I'm hoping to get into console repair and modding, for example the Xbox 360.

Hi everyone, I’m a PC hardware enthusiast from China. I love experimenting with different PC components. I worked in construction management for 18 years, but recently lost my job and am now staying at home. I’ve started learning about BIOS and would really appreciate your help and guidance.

i'll make it simple. I'm noobie on this repairing thing. I have few motherboards and faulty gpu's at my house, so i was looking for some boardviews to help me where i should look for faulty components. I'm electrical engineering student, but i like a lot of electronic things, so i want to learn how to repair this kind of thingsComment

I’ve been repairing electronics since 2012 started with a small gig in a stand alone kiosk doing only smartphones over time now 13 years later I’m brick and mortar and have moved on way past phone repairs to tablets, laptops, desktop, game consoles etc.. including board level repair for all of these devices which is how I found this site cause it’s impossible to get schematics for some of these modelsLast edited by GadgetCure; 07-10-2025, 01:24 AM.Comment
