I have an OptiPlex 7080 Small Form Factor with the service tag 9NDV053. However, the fan doesn't spin when starting up, and the System diagnostic lights show Amber 2, White 1. According to the Service Manual, this indicates a CPU failure. But replacing the CPU didn't solve the issue, and flashing the BIOS copied from another computer results in the same error code.
I'm reaching out to this knowledgeable community for guidance. Could this issue stem from a corrupted BIOS, or is it likely another hardware failure? I've exhausted my troubleshooting toolkit—even using a chip...Leave a comment:

Precision 3460 Small Form Factor BIOS
Hi everyone,
I have a Dell Precision 3460 Small Form Factor test unit. Its Service Tag was manually set to 1234567, which causes Dell to misidentify the device (it’s being recognized as a docking station), so I can’t use automatic driver updates or get proper support.
The correct Service Tag should be: FXHFV04.
Could someone please help me reset or clear the BIOS so I can re-enter the correct Service Tag?
Any guidance or tools would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!... -
Thank you very much! I finally managed to perform an online upgrade using 2 RotaRpl_16.1.27.2176_EVT_QS_64 v2.7.0. Meanwhile, both PD and EC can be successfully upgraded to the latest versions automatically.
Only the MAC address of the physical network card has been lost. However, when I attempted to modify it using the conventional tool EEUPDATEW64e, an error was reported.
win64e>EEUPDATEW64e /NIC=1 /mac_dump
Using: Intel (R) PRO Network Connections SDK v2.35.12
EEUPDATE v5.35.12.00

DELL Precision 3660 Tower Workstation BIOS
I bought a DELL Precision 3660 Tower Workstation from a second-hand seller. After bringing it home, I found out it was actually a testing unit. The BIOS cannot be upgraded (only the ME and PD2 sections are upgradable), and there are test messages displayed during boot, which really affects the user experience.
Upon inspecting the motherboard, I noticed that the BIOS is composed of two chips: one 8-pin 16MB chip and one 16-pin 32MB chip.
I acquired two new chips from another source containing the official BIOS version, but after installing them, I found that none of the...Last edited by cozily; 07-09-2025, 08:49 PM. -
