Hi,

i just wanted to introduce myself. I am almost 60 yr old and hold a degree in engineering - with a laser application specialisation. I am trying to keep older electronic devices alive by either reusing them or repairing them.

I have a good general grasp of engineering, but am in no way a specialist for electronics. Still - i want to learn.

I go back a way with Topcat, while he was still in the electronics biz, when a 200 mhz processor was a sight to behold. I've been using computers since the late 80's (first machine was an 8 mhz 286 with a 20 meg hardcard) and am mostly a networking guy with a helping of programming and a side of hardware.

Most of my involvement around here is behind-the-scene stuff, mostly setting up different services, and as always, needling topcat for still running windows.

Hey everyone,

Just joined the forum to learn more about BIOS modding and general hardware repair. I’ve recently run into a bit of a challenge with a Lenovo laptop, and that got me interested in how all this stuff really works.
I enjoy working with tech, trying to fix things myself, and learning new skills as I go. In my free time I’m also into gaming, electronics, and messing around with Linux now and then.
Looking forward to learning from the community and hopefully contributing something useful over time.

I am trying to fix a HP Pavilion Dv8t laptop with mother board "DAUT8AMB8DO REV".
if anyone has schematic and board view of this "DAUT8AMB8DO REV" MB please post it. It will be of great help.
I am not a pro this is my first attempt fixing a dead laptop after watching every YouTube video.
I have cleaned heat sync and fans of Desktops before and couple laptops, normally functioning laptops.

I'm Norman. Developer than Network Admin as profession, reverse enigeering, pentesting as compassion. Fresh into Hardware/Firmware Hacking. Some dude on YouTube mentioned the autoflasher for Lenovo Thinkpads. Originally only registered to download the file. Reading other threads and topics looks like an interesting place with lovely people. So I'll try my best to give something back If I have enough knowledge.

Edit: grew up with C64, Gameboy and i368 with turbo button. Should say enough about my age

I'll introduce myself because why not. I am currently in high school and have worked with chromebooks for several years, installed coreboot firmware on over 30 extremely cheap chromebooks I bought and installed linux in order to rid those devices of google and the extremely slow chrome os they come with. Then I installed minecraft on each of them which ran at a solid 100 fps when testing (much better then chrome os). Then I created a minecraft club at my school and let other students rent the computers for free because minecraft is cool. Now that it's summer I've got myself a couple thinkpads to install libreboot for fun.

Currently I work primarily with chromebooks that run linux and windows but daily drive a macbook because of its battery life. Joined this forum because a friend recommended it to me after I fried my thinkpadsoic chip (probably). Hoping to meet people with much more experience then me!
