Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi,
I'm into repairing all sorts of electronic components or trying to!!
I live in the Oxford UK and I work as Mercedes Diagnostic Technician which I have been doing for the last 12 Years, so I have quite a lot of vehicle electrical knowledge.

I've repaired a couple of LCD TVs, Xboxes, Playstations, Laptop motherboards and I have been buiding my own PCs for the last 20 Years.

    1st proper PC was a 286

I wanted to join this forum to hopefully learn a bit more about testing components and circuits! and save a few quid on repairs!

I am a new member and I came across this forum while trying to figure out what is wrong with my ever-lovin TV! I read some of the threads and they look helpful, however I haven't seen one yet with my issue so I signed up so I can post and I hope for some help because I am so ready to and toss it! Interesting read, some of these posts, and thanks for the laughs!

Hi. I used to be a generic computer tech, replacing cards and upgrading RAM and doing fresh OS installs and stuff. Then I opened my own business doing virus removals, setting up wireless routers, but gradually moved away from hardware repair and more into tutoring. I taught basically anything people wanted to know how to do on their computers, mostly teaching people twice my age how not to be afraid of their computers. I did this for several years, put myself through school, was my own boss, it was great. Then the recession happened. Now I'm a manual laborer, amateur farmer, and hopeful homesteader, and my PC hardware knowledge is completely out of date. Now my 5+ year old computer parts are starting to break and I'm trying to learn how to repair them, since I can't afford to buy new ones. That brings me to this site! I'll be posting in the troubleshooting forum as soon as I get some pictures uploaded.

Wait a minute- did I say free time? I don't have any. I am into electronics but still learning about how to troubleshoot/repair them. It's great that there are people out there, willing to help others.

              Hello everyone,
Can anyone answer this question. I need to replace a diode on a power circuit board on a 42mf521d/37 television. It is at location 6056 on the board. The diode reads "Lt6233" and "uf007" on it. I cannot find a replacment and need help! Any websites that offer this or anyone who has had to replace this diode before? Thanks, i'll get to my official intro when i'm not at break at work!
              Thanks,
              Chris

Ive "assembled" desktop computers up to a few years ago when the kids left home and i switched to laptops. Now because of $ i try and fix anything i can. ill spend hours researching and learning what i can to fix a problem rather then send it to the scrap yard.

real name Brian Plautz a Professional Surveyor who found this board after search for support on my 28" monitor. I-INC iF281D which every morning displays a few seconds then black, then flashes back on for a fraction of a second until I turn the monitor off count to 10 turn it back on and it generally works. Sometimes it takes a second turn off to work correctly. I have no clue what's wrong but found a nice thread where I'll post the above. Please move if in the wrong place.

Hi. The name is Dustin. I'm a computer geek and all-around handyman, DIY, fixer-upper kinda guy. My dad is a PCB/PWB engineer, and I recall stuffing components onto some prototype boards that he brought home way back when I was about 10yo. Fast-forward about 25 years and I'm still in love with the smell of smokey flux. I used to work for the Danaher Tool Group, the maker of Weller soldering tools, and I managed to get myself a nice unit before we went our separate ways. I've searched and lurked for a while now, and I've found this site to be awesome and chock full of answers, so I figured I should probably register and perhaps contribute back.

                                    Hello everyone.

My name is Bill. I recently retired from mostly farm jobs and now have time to do some tinkering. I'm a devoted do-it-yourselfer, I will sometimes spend two hours trying to fix a $5 item. Have voided the warranty on more than one broken electronic item with about a 50% fix rate. Love old stuff and have a few old computers and monitors that need fixing. These forums should help.

I bought my first computer in 1985 a Commodore-64. Did a little programming mostly in Basic. My best was a payroll program for my employer, at the time the largest tomato producer in Kentucky.

Hi everyone! I have been running a service center in Nova Scotia, Canada, for 19 years.

We are a warranty depot for several major brands. I enjoy going beyond "board level" repairs and getting down to the nitty gritty.

                                        Hello Everyone,
Im Jay Wolfx. I guess I am a tinkerer of sorts, there's really no one area of interest for me. I started with computers in the 80's, I now custom build and repair pc's, do a little software. I got into RC cars in the 80's also. Now a days I repair computers, arcade games, game consoles, LCD TV's, hand held games and so on. I love electronics and robotics.
I have formerly been a farm hand, truck driver, radio tech, pc tech, software specialist, production manager, car audio installer, Video security system installer, needless to say ive been around a little.
