more updates, the plot thickens!
I decided to grab the original old (supposedly bad) micom ic and put it onto the other mainboard I have (that i bought from a tv that was dead but was 2 inches different size). Before i fired it up i did a hex compare of the IC with the downloaded DUMP off the internet...they match! so this can't be a micom corruption fault after all. My micom must be fine.
I put the cannibal mainboard in my tv with original micom from my tv and the remote worked straight away. woohoo.
Only issue now is that there is no image because I guess the firmware or board is designed for a different model/panel.
the boards are identical apart from the LVDS connector is in a different position. On both boards there are TWO LVDS connector positions, right next to each other. One is labelled HD and the other FHD. What do you think the chances are that if i move the connector to the other location to match my old board, that I will get a picture? I will try tomorrow.
Would love to know what was wrong with my old board though.
I still can't work out why my old board started working when I swapped the micom the first time around. Maybe I just got lucky but there is an intermittent fault.
P.S. yes i tried universal remote but no luck there, fault is definitely with the TV.

if you have ever rewritten your original micom, then i guess it is a bad soldering of new micom

I love it when someone knowledgeable comes along just to observe and laugh. Fear not, I wouldn't lower myself to ask you for any help in case I get more Diah-rhea back.
For the record, I didn't need to do a micom dump earlier than I have done because I had another board on hand that had a working micom to transplant over, albeit from a version of this TV that has a slightly bigger panel - and I'm not as clever as Diah-rhea in knowing if the micom from a bigger TV (but same mainboard) would have any impact on the usability of the TV. However my goal was simply to see if it made the remote work again to eliminate the micom from the equation. I also didn't have a known good dump from the exact model of TV I was fixing to flash on anything, until now. I also didn't see any point in reading a micom of a TV that may have had corrupted data apart from trying to do that to confirm it's actually corrupt. Checking for FF's would still be guessing and not conclusive for me.
I'm starting to wonder if you're also in a fantasy world when you said "micom never being SW. its IO only". Apologies in advanced if I am miss interpreting your comments but are you trying to tell us that micom is not software or has no software? I am aware that it is I/O, it's a microcontroller that controls power on, monitors IR, panel buttons and such like and a lot more i'm sure. It would be pretty brain dead without software burnt onto it though, so I'm not getting your comment about never being SW. Maybe I'm miss-understanding it.
We are all learning here regardless of our knowledge levels, but if you've just come here to laugh then I don't see how that's really helping matters, but thanks anyway.
Even if nobody I able to help further I will post back what I do in the end to fix it as this forum is a great place and if my experience helps someone else then that's great. The remote control issue is now sorted, now I just need to see if the working mainboard I am now using can be altered to work with the panel of this TV as per a previous post. I'm going to start by moving the LVDS connector to the second position so that it matches the original mainboard and report back.

I/O function related to high low.. not SW. this why micom didn't had any part of FW when you flash TV upgrade / or downgrade.
the low / high controlled by SPI / NOR script ----> CPU ---->. and the Micom translate it as command I/O to turn panel / PW_On etc.

Ok that's fine, I am aware that the micom logic/software and the system fw are completely separate and I appreciate the explanation your giving to us all but how does this help? Yes i did update the FW right at the beginning because it's quite a normal thing to try when you get a fault and there are no obvious hardware issues found (for me anyway). It may have not been the most clever or logical thing for me to do first bearing in mind that bad IR points more to the micom, but how many times have we had a device that didn't want to work right and a FW update fixed it? Lot's of times for me. It was just one off the list to try thats all.
The good thing is that the remote is working but getting a picture on the screen with this different main board is my main priority now.

upload clear high resolution photo of yours original MB. and mark the IC you played before... are there Quartz close to it circuit ?
IR / RC fault not easy to find out with out Oscilloscope, because its wave Freq. so this parts could effect on the IR /RC
A- IR receiver , B- Quartz "freq change or damage" C- Nand / SPI /Nor sector defect where the RC Key script part saved on it. D- RC defect or send with different code.
doesn't matter which point are the caused... at this fault recommend to use Mobile IR apk. or harmony or any universal RC with manual shift search (power off ) button .for testing. as its range better than the original RC at any way.
