    LCD micorprocessors

Hi there, i have always wondered about the processors that run the LCD TV. If i had one whose micro processor was shorted and i ordered a brand new one and managed to re solder it on the board would it work? I mean after all where does the operating system reside? Is it in the memory chip (25Q32) or is it loaded in the ROM of the micro processor? Just wondering???
If my question is not clear I can elaborate further. I am not talking about an LG or Samsung board but rather the TSUMV59XU-Z1 chip used in these cheaper Chinese sets.

What do you mean for lcd microprocessor? The main chip in a tcon is not a microprocessor, but have something similar to a program, it is stored inside itself when outside there isn't a flash, or outside when there is an external flash.. the i2c eeprom doesn't apply, it's only settings..

If we are talking about TSUMV59XU-Z1 (MStar), then the firmware is in spi flash 25Q32, just change the processor and that's it, if the firmware remains alive, then everything will work.

It it's the main processor, what about the unique codes stored in it like mac address etc..? Is a new chip virgin and have to be initialised? i know there are special factory software to do these jobs.. these softwares like the other ones to access and program system by uart are no more available around..

This is a normal, simple scaler controller, it does not have any MAC, etc. All settings, panel and remote control codes are stored in spi flash.

Are you advicing an universal board? For me them causes a lot of trouble with connectors /case management and an annoying visible external ir receiver.. but anyway it's a matter of flavours..

I do not advise anything, I just explained that replacing this controller on the motherboard will not create any problems.

Have you ordered some from Aliexpress and soldered it into a unit and it worked?

No, I personally did not order, but I know colleagues who changed and there were no problems.
But it can also fly off the firmware of his native.

I posted a photo of the board on which this controller is used (TSUMV59XU-Z1) and showed that there is no need to program anything on it (mac address ...).
