    Plasma signal cable question

The gray signal cable, found in the attached picture. This is some kind of signal cable from the input board pcb to the picture processing pcb, right?
Every plasma set use to have this cable somewhere.
Is the polarisation standardized for this cable? I mean, could I hook another plasma set and connect this cable to it and view an image on the second one?
I assume this isn't possible, it can't be that easy. Thanks!

Technically, that cable runs to the 'main control card' for the plasma panel. On a Philips set it comes from the 'Small Signal Board'; I'm sure other manufacturers use different terms.

There is some level of standardization, but I don't know how much. Earlier this year someone had replaced the Small Signal board in a 42" TV with one from a 50" and got a picture, but with one side missing. After resetting the panel type in eeprom, it worked perfectly. That implies that the pinout was the same for both main control cards. I do know that the service manuals for Philips Plasma TVs show a number of possible plasma panels, each with their own identifier.

I suspect that if you took the plasma panel from a Samsung TV and tried using it in an LG TV you wouldn't have any success (LG makes their own plasma panels, as does Samsung). If, however, you took the plasma panel from Samsung TV and tried to use it in a Vizio that used a Samsung panel, you would have a good chance of success. Note that the Main control card, the power supply, and the various sustain and buffer boards are considered part of the panel.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

Requesting Help For GA-970A-DS3 rev. 1.0, No Post code, no RSMRST# signal
      by AstutePauciloquent
Hi everyone, over the past few months i have taken a deep dive into motherboard diagnostics and I love the challenge. Currently im trying to learn all about the signals that travel around the motherboard, such as frequencies, enable signals High and Low logic states etc. And i have been learning to read and using the Schematics for this board that i requested here on Badcaps forum, from a few months ago, this is such a great place for these.

I’ve been working on a GA-970A-DS3 (rev. 1.0) that does not post. This motherboard has been my main learning board. I would like share...

      Good morning.

I have posted here before and have gotten AMAZING advise (thank you!). I'm back for more. This BCaps Sub Forum is so well attended I thought I would post here.

      Cable Repair
      by Patch2
I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number...

      Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
      by jm1234
      Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

What is a normal composite signal range for a C64?
      by Scruit
      Hello all,

Working on my first C64 / Breadbin / 250407. Purchased as non-working. Getting black screen.

More detail below, but for those that want to get right to the question.... Here are a few waveforms comparing the Pin15 output on the VIC chip (luma/sync) to the pin 4 on the AV socket (composite signal).

      https://imgur.com/gallery/PpqcqPY

My question is: Is the composite waveform range of 0.1v-1v too low for a c64?

      More detail:

Symptoms are that that I get...
