So i have a really old 42lc7d tv which had the caps replaced and the hdmi ports repaired. The tv still works well. The one problem im having is when i try to use the firestick, the firestick splash screen will come up and then the screen goes black. I tried all of the resolution settings on the firestick and none worked. Im thinking it could be a problem with the handshake. I know the ports work because other devices work on them. Im thinking a firmware update might fix it but i see lg removed firmware from their site for this tv. Im wondering if there is any online database for older firmware for this model or if a software upgrade will even fix it.

Re: Lg 42lc7d
had a similar issue about 6 years ago with a sony kdl, its kind of hazy now, but every time I would pick hdmi then try powering firestick the screen would blank out, like maybe the mainboard just couldn't handle that extra stress or something, tv played fine from antenna also. I didn't have an extra hdmi device to try at the time I was messing with it, I think I replaced the mainboard to fix it.Last edited by nomoresonys; 03-24-2022, 05:14 PM.
