Take it apart and look for anything obvious (blown caps, loose connection, burnt out components, etc).

Post pictures after reading the FAQ on how to insert pics.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

What do you mean by 'No Power'? Did the relay click? Did you check the outputs of the power supply? Do any of the heat sinks get warm?

Have you looked for the service manual? What is the history of the TV?

Somebody has one for sale on eBay for $698 + $100 shipping. I think they are a little bit optimistic unless it comes stuffed with $20 bills.

Can you post pictures of all the boards? These TV's have multiple issues comming from multiple boards. They differ from smaller Tv's and monitors because they have so much protection - overcurrent, undercurrent, etc... Almost anything can cause the symptoms you're describing.

          Is there a blinking LED?
If so... what is the pattern?

Do you get any backlight at all?

            It's a plasma. No backlight.

lol thanks for the correction. I own now three Philips/Magnavox Tv's - repairs I kept. They are worse than Samsung now! Better for me though -saved money.

Do they still have the coded sequence with these plasma's - Error codes?

Every Philips I've worked on uses them. I've got a Magnavox on the bench that doesn't seem to, but the problem (shorted Y-sus) wouldn't show up anyway. I finally located the service manual and it's not up to the usual Philips standards. A quick run through it did not show any diagnostic codes. The interesting thing is at a quick glance, the SSB looked a lot like the Philips design. I don't feel like shorting out the 12V supply just to see what will happen.

Just as a matter of curiosity, what brand of plasma do you like?

My 42" Panasonic plasma is on year 4 so. It's the only one I've dealt with but never had any problems with it. Picture is very very nice. Colors are great. Just have a 4:3 burn in issue that is only seen when I watch ice hockey or something else where the whole screen is bright white. I try to train my eyes to ignore it. lol Sooner or later, I'll sell it and keep one of my repaired LCD's.

                    Re: magnavox 42mf230a/37

I have 2 Samsung LCD TVs, 1 Panny Plasma, and a Samsung plasma, no problems with any of them so far. My 5 year old Samsung monitor that I just gave to my mom, was also fine, though I did do a pre-emptive recap on it.

I'm not saying Samsung are great, but I've had good luck so far.

The last Magnavox I ever worked on was a K7(?) chassis, flexible circuit board, BAD idea in a tube set, we were always re-soldering them.
36 Monitors, 3 TVs, 4 Laptops, 1 motherboard, 1 Printer, 1 iMac, 2 hard drive docks and one IP Phone repaired so far....

I have a post on psx-place for this but thought I'd try here as well in case anyone has experience or the schematics or any kind of help. Here's the original post from psx-place:

Hi, so I bought a YLOD Fat PS3 as I wanted a repair project and thought it would be a good way to get experience. I was able to solder to the RX, TX and Diag pads on the COK-002 motherboard and was able to get external access and retrieved the codes. I haven't powered it on beforehand so these should be the last ones. I did try to get internal access immediately after but kept getting scopen response...

                      Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

Asus VG248QE won't power on / purple light
                      by gamartinelli
                      Hello,

I have an Asus VG248QE that all suddenly stopped working. Everything was fine, I had my PC connected to the HDMI port and never had any issues. Then I decided to plug a laptop in the DisplayPort (USB-C to DP cable). It worked fine for a few hours, I left, at some point the monitor went to sleep mode and when I came back and moved the mouse monitor didn't wake up. The power button lights up in blue when the signal is good and amber when in sleep mode / no signal turned purple (first time I saw that). Did some research but couldn't find a way to bring my monitor back to life....
