    32" Trinitron loose wire

So I picked up a 32" Sony KV-32TS36 for free and the first thing I did after ensuring it worked (I was given it with a note saying it ran with a light tint of yellow) was take the back off and dust it out. Compared to my older 27" Sony, in this one all the boards are modular and could be removed which made dusting a lot easier.
The problem is now that it is all back together I find myself with one spare cable. Two wires, white and gray, almost a foot long and the same connector on both ends. I never stopped to see where everything plugs in as I assumed all the connectors were different sizes. The only place I can find where there is a connector with nothing plugged into it is on the tuner board (both pins are ground) and on the main logic board (one pin is ground, the other is not and is marked "VIDEO PAL"). I'm not going to just plug it in and see what happens as the last thing I want to do is blow the boards. Any ideas or is it just a spare cable with no use?

Also, is there any way to remove or reduce the tint? The guns are almost 20 years old so I'm sure a bit more voltage might help.

This what you get for assuming.

Anyway, tint, have you checked customer's menu that tint control is centered?

20 years old TV will have automatic kine adjustment. It does it is denoted as "IK" pin on the CRT board. Do you have original remote for it. You need it for service menu.

Unfortunately I do not have the original remote but I do still have a crapload of Sony remotes so I'm sure at least one of them will work.

I'll lookover the service manual and see if I can get any more help there regarding the wiring and color adjustment as my tint has already been centered.

Service manual has the details and any remote that has same name of buttons should work on these sony remotes.

Great. Not one but all four connectors (like I said, I got two sets of matching cables and four connectors with an idea where at least one of the cables go) are not listed in the service manual.
This is one of these moments I wish I had a picture to refer to.

FYI: The two mystery connectors are CN165 on the A board and I think CN168 on the M board. The other two were CN148 on the UA board and CN164 on the A board but they are both nothing but grounds so nothing should be hurt if I connect them together.

Okay, I'm into service mode and I ahve not messed with anything yet. There are very few trimmer pots on the TV (just focus, screen, H.Stat as well as the yoke controls and that's it) and it's all menu driven from an OSD (refer to page 44 here).
Unfortunately the service manual mentions nothing about kine adjustment.

I tried very lightly messing with the settings but it still looks pretty ugly.

Any Sony remote should work, Sony is famous for all of its remotes operating all of its TV's. I bought my mom a cheapo 19" Bravia LCD for her bedroom last year, and the remote that came with it operates my 1992 20" Trinitron.

It goes without saying but a Trinitron in good shape bangs out one hell of a picture.

What about increasing the heater voltage?

It's an old repairman's trick to squeeze some more life out of a worn tube.

Not a long term solution or one I would use personally but it will force some more electrons off the cathodes to verify if the tube is worn.

you dont have anything to lose.add a turn or 2 to the heater winding.next stop the dumpster.but you might squeeze a bit more life from it.
just shot a 14" sony tube in a cnc pendant for a friend who needed the machine in a hurry.it was real sick but it rejuved well.have a good pull but i even had to tell him how to turn down the g2 because it got better yet after a few hours.this is the exeption though.sick sony tubes seldom respond well to anything.

That was my idea. Just crank up the voltage a little and that should pass me over until I can afford a decent LCD. However I don't know how to turn the voltage up. Like I said, a lot of the settings are cmputer controlled and not visually adjustable on the boards.

disconnect the heater line from the board.use a length of wire to make a turn or 2 around the fly core.connect in series with the old heater line.raises the voltage a bit and (hopefully) gives better emission.or at least improve it enough that its no longer green.

A couple of days ago I finally got my hands on a locally sourced Trinitron and after lugging all 175 LBS home I gave it a good cleaning inside and out. The guy said it had been in a shed for 2 years, but the outside wasn't too bad. The inside was another story and while there was no evidence of mouse, it had certainly been kept in a VERY dirty home.

I cleaned it to an acceptable level of grime, at least clean enough to where nothing would heat up from the dust insulation. I then tried it out and it worked!

I'd say I had it on for about 15 minutes or so and then lugged...

Hi everyone, I've been troubleshooting my 20" Sony Trinitron (KV-20FV12) CRT after it failed to show a picture. The standby LED is blinking 4 times, which according to the service manual is a failed vertical deflection via the self-diagnostic check during power up.

After getting the TV checked out by a technician and doing research on my own. The most obvious first step was to replace the IC502. I've done so with an exact NOS replacement with no luck. I've read a few suggestions to make sure the 12V supply to pin 2, but that voltage check would seem misleading? It seems if the...
