    Orpaned Insignia NS-LTDVD19

    Hi old Badcap gang. I was able to pick this up from the curbside. My introduction to the LCD world was a Viewsonic CPU screen that I still use today, so I thought if I could successfully re-cap a CPU screen((with alot of help from you guys)) that I'll give a TV a try.

    Symptom:Nothing happens when powered on.

    It's all dissassembled. I was surprised it has a Samsung LCD in it so I decided it was a worthy candidate. Power board looks OK. No dark areas or solder problems so I can rule out power surge type injury. I have a blue ECR meter but I need to assemble it. In the meantime...

      Is this a TV or a monitor? And what do you mean by 'nothing happens'? No power LED? If a TV power LED doesn't go from red to green?

      First step it to verify the power supply is working.

          Hi PlainBill, It's a TV and DVD player in one. No LED's or anything happens to indicate power to circuits. Matter of fact, there is still a DVD disc in the DVD player. I'm guessing the original owner lost power while watching a DVD. Not much more to add. I think I'll go ahead and replace the few caps on the power board. Yes?

              No. Take your DMM and check the voltage at the power connector. The caps look good. If you have 12Volts, look elsewhere for the problem. If there is no 12 volts, look for 165 volts across the large cap, check the fuse, etc.

              Analogy: When your car won't start, verify there is gas in the gas tank before you replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor, etc.

                  Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

                  The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

                  Having a new problem with the 19" Insignia that I modified with one of my automatic turn on circuits. That is now completely disconnected so that is not the issue. I was doing some modifications on that circuitry and managed to short something out on the underside of the power board.
                  Actually found and bought the service manual (who knew it was even available?!) which brought me to the High Voltage Startup Circuit controller chip.
                  Looking up that chip number- LD7575APS brought me to the attached datasheet. I have marked my voltage readings on the schematic sheet (open in new...

                  Insignia NS-43D420NA20 backlight on no display - LCD panel burn failure

                  Eventually discovered a burn mark near lower corner of LCD. Here is a summary
                  • Backlight on, no image
                  • Disconnect right buffer board (view from front), left side display comes on
                  • Masked off pin 7+8 (both ~12,5v on both left and right buffer board) from t-con to right buffer board (view from front) display works but have some lines
                  • Buffer board is pretty simple
                  Removed the front bezel to examine edge of the glass. Found burn mark on lower right (view from front). Plastic bezel covering the burn mark region shows heat signature on the inside surface facing the LCD panel. Last 2 pics. Bright...

                  Insignia NS-32L430A11 backlight issue

                  I have a weird backlight issue on the above Insignia Plasma that I am coming up empty on researching.

                  The display is darker on the left than on the right side of the screen. It uses 4 U shaped plasma tubes. I have had it apart deep enough to tell you that the tubes are bright as they should be at the electrode ends but dim as they get to and go around the bend.

                  Since it is all 4 tubes it seems like it would be an inverter/backlight board but obviously can't be a blown up component as it does still somewhat work. I'm thinking low voltage but no idea where to go beyond...

                  I'm not sure what to do next and came here since y'all helped me fix a 50" plasma TV back in 2014, which is still working!

                  A friend gave me an Insignia NS-50DR620NA18 50" TV that suddenly developed large vertical lines on it. He said he had no idea what might have caused it and has replaced it with a larger TV. He was going to throw it away.

                  I did not notice any bulged or leaking caps on any board, the voltages produced by the power supply match the voltage that the pins are marked. The backlight leds are working. I have tried cleaning the ribbon cables...
