    lg 42plasma horizontal line

I picked up another l/g 42 plasma It has a great picture except for two horizontal lines (pin stripe). One is about 6" from the top and the 2nd is about an inch from the bottom. I would guess at the y buffer or connections from y buffer to pdp. I hope the double line is a clue (pattern)?

There is a service manual in my y board thread. I think it covered this. What is your specific tv.

Not necessary. Replace both Y-buffer boards that for that lines. Be GENTLE with unplugging and plugging orange flat cable! Do this before undoing any of the screws holding Y-buffer board in.

        Re: lg 42plasma horizontal line

I removed the y buffer board (one board) first then removed the flat cable. It was easier to hold the ribbons. These were pretty tight. also as you have said before the 4 leds on the control board only tell you something is running. I have worked on about 5 of these and the last led is never lit up. This is a pdp42x3 made for a vizio. Is this chip failure, connector, or solder failure? Thanks again for your help Wizard!
I will check out said thread. Thanks NxB!

IC failure. Blew a buffer for the line. Y-buffer boards are replaced as whole.

I replaced the buffer board and still have the same lines. This can`t be good.

This will make a nice board tester though!

Oouch! Still, there are plenty of plasma tv using same panel.

                PDP4273?

I think I have the same model as you, rebranded though.

I'm curious, the spec for this TV says 1024x768... What resolution do you get through the VGA input?

The l/g panel is a pdp42x3000 made for vizio. boards are used in lots of models (2006) date code
I will use this panel for some reverse engineering ( a good thing )
This panel is a 720p as far as I can tell. I have made enough money on 6 tvs so I will deal with the 100.00 loss on this one. I will learn alot with this tv now and will gain a great deal of info and training from it. Well worth the 100 bucks! Thanks for all the help!

                    Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

                    Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                    Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                    • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
