    LG OLED Problem 55EG960V

hi guys I have an LG OLED TV 55EG960V

that started to display garbled images while menu icons was ok.

and now it no longer turns on.

could this be a bad main board ?

ive tried to source one but so far im having no luck.

so basically I have a 55" doorstop at the moment.

can anyone advise what I can look for / check ?

    thanks

If it would be the T-Con, then everything would look broken. because it goes from Mainboard to T-CON and the t-con cables are going into Panel. if i'm not wrong, the t-con does display the volume, and other things.
i'm thinking too, that this could be a mainboard issue.

hi guys thanks for the replies.

ive had no luck so far sourcing a mainboard for this tv.

and to be honest I wouldn't know where to begin reballing the CPU on there or finding out which one is the CPU lol,

one more thing is there anyway to display the colours bars on these tv's ?

        thanks

For the reballing you can research locally or the nation for reballing service centers
for the autotest, i know in lcd displays there's a method to show it by simply suplying power to it but not any video or other signals. Try the same with this..

PS: my previous post advice is not a solution but a diagnosis due to high percent of those problems in lg tv..

            hi Davi.p

            thanks again for the reply.

I have tried to power it on without the mainboard LVDS cables connected

            but nothing happens.

is it looking for a power on signal or something ?

            thanks

p.s as the mainboard just causes the power logo to blink while connected I don't think its actually turning on the PSU and doing anything ???

              Re: LG OLED Problem 55EG960V

Just to clarify, i mean supplying power to tcon, so i guess 12v+24v, and nothing other
to take those tensions by the internal PSU you must turn on a pair of control signals.
So post a photo of serigraph tables around connectors on PSU..

                          thanks for the attached PDF

that will help troubleshoot the PSU

now to find one for the main board would be good

                            Hi again

The display glows so I assume that's ok ?

It don't display colour bars or anything but there could be it needs a signal or something from the main board and as that's not powering up

It's not likely to so would that rule out the display as being the issue ?

                            Thanks

Starting from my point of view of bad CPU the display must be ok, but the test you have done it is not a self test so no sure answer

Well I know there was no physical damage to the display it just started off with a garbled image on HDMi and the apps and then not powering up.

So I would say the main is the problem.

But I can’t source one to test.

I’m still trying to find someone to reball the cpu

But I have found some dead shorts coming from the cpu on several caps

How do you know if them comes from CPU without a schematic? If you think that you can post photos of what you are measuring but I'm convinced you are wrong due to the progressive damagement

The bottom ones are all connected to ground but the top ones on the first two are not.

But the 3rd one is grounded

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

Hi. I have a problem that has been going on for some time (2-3 years). It's hard to explain what it really is. Sometimes, my computer stops playing music, stops videos (starts buffering on youtube), there is no sound in games and when I minimize the game window and return to the game there is a black screen with window borders...

My Oled Tv is 55inch tv, 3 days ago I notice that middle of the screen is getting warmer and on picture I have ghosting, missing red color. Color red was still displaying, but it was not so strong as corners of the screen and watching some movies makes me angry.
Then I get an idea to take it apart and clean boards from dust.
In side of Tv was not so bad, I take compressed air in can, and gently blow up.

Also I was thinking to styrofoam sponge to isolate power board from screen that the middle of the screen will not worm so much. Because Led on screen when gets higher...

Hi everyone! I am a new member and am new to electronics repair. I have a background in electrical engineering, but little experience in electronics.

I have a Sony XR-77A80K which will not turn on and has 5 blinking red lights in the stand-by light. I had previously done a forced factory reset, which removed the error code, and the TV regained functionality for a few weeks. I repeated the factory reset and again regained functionality. This happened a few times until I so I had to begin troubleshooting the error.

                                          Observations:
                                          1) I noticed I was not getting...

                                          Hi Guys.
I have experienced something rather unique and need to find out by the forum what to make of it.
I got in this set, a JVC or Telefunken LED TV whose complaint is that sometimes the set comes up blank with the back lights running. So I switched on and yes there was a blank screen and back lights were running. I checked the fuse on the TCON and sometime later I lifted the set off the table to check the image (the TV has no feet to let it stand upright) and noticed the set was cycling red, green blue, test pattern, blank then all over again doing this. Suddenly the no signal...
