    Butchered Insignia NS-37LCD power supply

I think I may be over my head with this one .
Pictured here you can see the power supply which does not work. It looks like the previous tech or in this case butcher left his handy work for all to see
I do get the 5 volt control power thats it the 24 volt reads 5.68 volts same for the 18 volt .

What I would like to know is what else can I measure the caps look okay but I know that is not always the case . I would really like to work through this problem but will need some help.

When I told my doctor I broke my leg in two places while carrying a big Monitor, he told me to stop going to those places.

I am new to tvs, not so new to curcuit boards. It looks like the patch cords were soldered to the board on the wrong side and when you lay the cable flat the two end wires look like they cross over each other, reversed? I have seen this type of power supply on other tvs. I would replace the power supply before trying to fix someone elses mess. The problem you have is the power supply my not have been the only problem.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Assuming...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Using a 5 volt @ 12 amp switching power supply and two USB doctor volt / amp meter to three IPads on one power supply
      by sam_sam_sam
I have been wanting to do this project for some time using a Mean-well switching power supply that I bought at least ten of them that were originally in a device that was abandoned for some reason they were listed new but removed from equipment that was never used

I do not understand Mean-well the capacitor next to the voltage reference ic chip was a brand that is known for failure over time the other capacitors are brand name needless to say it got replaced before I even powered it on for the first time

I used a four USB outlet and electrical plate that is made for...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
      by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board

      After all of...

Definitive technology SC 2000 subwoofer amp's power supply clicking and popping
      by JimBanville
The sub developed a constant popping every couple seconds from woofer and power LED flickering with nothing but wall AC connected. Connecting an audio cable didn't change anything. It doesn't play but a second or two of audio in between the pops.
Opened it up and discovered the power supply is making a faint clicking or ticking sound.
I measured the amp's output to the woofer and it pulses up to 50mv DC to be driver. The pulses coincide with the power supply ticking/clicking.
I measured the power supply output going to the amp board and it too has this pulsing. Voltage cycles...
