Re: LG 55UJ6200 BEFORE & AFTER tape fix/fine tuning success

Saw something interesting. There are little gold contacts along the board inside that controls the video signal. Some of them have conductive tape, some do not. One had the tape peeling from it when I openened it to look. Could this be a grounding issue? I'm really crossing my fingers on this one. I wonder if I put some tape on that and make the contact better it will be fine.... Picture:

Re: LG 55UJ6200 BEFORE & AFTER tape fix/fine tuning success

After a lot of fussing with the tape and trying different pins and combinations I've landed on the most successful result. The least amount of pins I can cover are pins 11, 12 & 13. The picture is solid, color is correct and no flicker occurs. There is however very fine lines in the entire image, top to bottom.

Just want to share this information in case this becomes a predictable fault in this particular panel. I have watched a few videos on youtube and the best fix for a shorted panel seems to be the tape method. They discovered there parallel lines in the ribbon cables and if you cover them, the picture clears right up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUWapOBtm0Y

Only question remains: how is it some owners report a perfect picture with this method yet I am still seeing lines in mine? Is there some perfect amount of pins to cover and how can I determine the correct ones? Could a combination work? Like say first 1 & 2 pins covered, skip a few then cover 4 etc... boom perfect picture. I have yet to arrive at that result but I am determined since this set has the potential to be the best quality image out of all the tvs I have found.

Try to cover more pins, so you isolate the the whole group of pins driving bad side.

In my experience it's just the luck of the draw... the degree the tape method works depends on where the screen is shorted. with some, faint lines is the best that can be done.

That's an interesting approach. How many pins should I try? Half of the cable?

I did it only once on UK series, was about 12 pins and result was pretty good.

IBM LTO 7 Tape Drive - Dust Sensors??
                  by RetroComputingGrotto
I have a Quantum SuperLoader robotic tape library that uses an IBM LTO 7 tape drive which is constantly complaining that it needs cleaning. If you insert a cleaning tape, it performs the clean and resets the cleaning counter to 0 hours. It should only require cleaning every 50 or so working hours but after as little as just 1 hours use it requests cleaning. We've purchased a new cleaning tape along with new LTO backup tapes but that has not resolved the problem.

I have taken the library apart and can see no noticeable signs of dust inside. I have removed the tape drive from the...

                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

LG 75UN8570AUD panel issue fixed with tape.
                  by triplefour
I've been seeing a lot of the new TVs (samsung and LG only i think) maybe 1-2 years old suffering from sudden panel death and have been over 50% successful bringing them at least most of the way back to functionality if not all the way, with the tape masking of the LVDS pins method.
add this one to the list. the issue was on the left side of the panel and i ended up blocking just 3 pins on the connector that joins the two panel boards that make up the left side of the panel (it has 4 boards total) i didnt get the picture back to 100% perfect. i spent hours fiddling with which pins to block...

KDL-60EX500. Comes on fine, sound is fine, backlights come on. Blank screen. Already tried reset POWER/VOL-. Anyone else have this problem? Possibly bad T-Con RUNTK4244ZZ or panel? Could main or power supply cause this? There were 2 blown 560u 35v on power going to backlights but they were still working fine. Thanks for your help.

Dell ATX PSU won’t start, but forcing it works fine?

Got a case of something new weird at work. There is an old 2nd gen Intel i3 in an old “Pizza box” shell that has a small form factor power supply. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures and model number off it.

Anyway, I get to work and get to look at this computer. Standby LED on the PSU is on, but the computer won't start. Hmm o.k. take the battery out of the main board try again, nothing. O.k. then… unplug the power supply from the main board and put in a full size ATX PSU (yeeeesss! Exact that blown Powerman IP that I fixed a while back), plug it in and the old...
