Insignia plasma n2-42p650a11 black horizontal lines

Hi I picked this up on the side of the road. It has black horizontal lines on the display. It's it repairable?

I looked for bulging caps but didn't see any.

    Thanks

Test the Y-buffer output pins to the panel, they cannot be open nor shorted, where there's these lines, if it's a buffer fault, they would be open, infinite resistance.

Put multimeter in diode mode, the positive probe on the buffer's floating ground, negative on the output pins, should have a forward voltage of 0.7~1.2V.

I went across all the pins and they all show around .739v.

If there's .739V on the same pins as these horizontal lines, I say it's a panel problem.

Yeah I double checked them so that makes sense. Thanks for the help.

That's a Ybuffer problem. If you can get a working set cheap replace them. Or replace the buffer ic's responsible for those portions of the screen.

It certainly does look like a Y buffer problem. I would repeat the buffer testing.

Yeah my board looks just like that. I did that test a bunch of times and didn't get any shorts which seems strange.

It looks like a replacement board cost more than the TV is worth so will prob just trash it.

Actually There are some used ones (untested) on ebay for $20 or a "new" one for around $35. Do you think it's worth the gamble to see if it fixes it?

Samsung plasma 50" TV, model PN50C540G3F, has black horizontal lines
                        by CyberNinja
First, the black horizontal lines even overlay the TV's menu. Does this behavior indicate that it's the plasma panel that's defective? If not for the black lines, the TV works just fine. I've cleaned the 6 connectors between the panel and the Y-buffer board, causing no change in the black lines. Visually, the 12 ICs on the Y-buffer look brand new (no holes, etc.). I put my fluke meter in continuity mode and tried to perform the "short" test on the 6 panel ports and found many shorts. But I don't think I'm doing the "short" test correctly and I'm hoping someone can provide guidance....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
                        by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                        • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                        • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

I have seen many youtube videos with guys who put a tape in ribbon cable and TV fixed in a magic way (I have tried without success).

                        by Raulnn
good morning! I have a problem with this Sony. The image has a pattern of black horizontal lines, I attach a photo of the lines. The power supply is external and emits a sound. I don't think it's because of that. Let's see if someone can help me.
