    Imfamous M60-C3 woes

    Hey all.

I've learned a large bit from this forum. I'm happy to report that after following the troubleshooting methods listed from the veterans on this page, I was able to get this older TV going again. I picked this TV up from FBOOK market for little to nothing. The fella I got it from said the power button does nothing, etc etc. Brought it home, found the power cord included was wrong. Was the rounded on both edges cord, needed the one with the flat spot on one side. Took cover off found fuse on PSU to be blown. Ordered proper fuse and soldered it in. TV would power cycle nonstop. Visually inspected PSU and found caps c203/c204 to be bloated. Replaced them with proper rated caps. Still no go. Checked all voltages and and found no return signal for t-con from mainboard to psu. T-con wasn't getting supplied voltage either. Suspect mainboard. Mainboards are about $100 now - found a routine in here to reflow in the oven. Performed that routine and TV now works properly, however there's slight ghosting/flickering regardless of runtime on tv. Happens atleast one-ten times a minute. It is not localized to one section of the screen, it impacts the entire screen for a fraction of a second. Is the ghosting/flickering the result of a faulty mainboard or are there other known reasons ie: bad ribbon cable to t-con, another cap issue on psu, etc? This will most likely turn into a garage TV due to the issue.

Thanks for any suggestions, and thankyou all so much for the information found in this gold-mine of a forum.

    Re: Imfamous M60-C3 woes

    Just wanted to update this:

I've kept the TV since Feb/21. I'm happy to report the ghosting/flickering has gone away with use overtime. Use has been limited to maybe a few times a month - not intentionally but I really only use the TV in the basement for special events or background noise.

I'm confident the reflow procedure is to thank - as it's the reason I can claim victory on this.

Over time, the ghosting/flickering has gone away. Typically it'd be present after a few minutes of the TV being on - requiring a reboot to get it to go away. As of the last month or two, I've not had to do this. I also contribute this to "working" the hardware in this TV by streaming 4K via Amazon Video for hours at a time whenever the TV was being used.

For those questioning the "reflow" procedure, [Insert Shia Labeouf screeching "JUST DO IT"]

TV boards generally respond well to oven reflow, the BGAs used are plastic with bond wires inside not the flip chip kind like used on laptops, so it is really the solder balls that fail and not the chip itself getting cold joints internally.

ACER BM320 Monitor - Horizonal Flickering Lines After a While
        by reessi
        Hello,

The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..

They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.

Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.

I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...

Fixing an I-Inc IF281D for the 3rd time, now with added flickering!
        by DrvLikHell
Hello everybody! It's been nine years and I'm back again with the same monitor that several people here helped me fix back then. The first time, I replaced two caps as was recommended here and the original problem was solved. Then it started acting up a few years later and I came back for a parts list and replaced a few more caps (I didn't make a post about that and don't remember which ones), and again the problem was solved. This time, however, I'm not sure if it's caps.

The monitor stays on but certain colors will flicker. Generally it's darker colors like dark greys or dark blues,...

Cutting the jumper on Samsung TV to solve the flickering
        by Adenitz
        Hello to all,
I have just seen this YT video about solving flickering issue on SAMSUNG TV. Reading many comments it seems this works.
But I wonder what is done here and how this solved the issue. I'm not able to find the schematics so cannot explain to myself.
Few years ago I had a flickering problem on one monitor in some factory which I managed to solve by inserting UPS between monitor and power outlet. I also notice on this occasion the flickering was gone if I put insulation tape on the power plug like shown in the attached picture to remove connection with the PE conductor...
