Sony OLED XBR65A8G no video, PSU problem?

Here is a better closeup picture of where these lines goes, to SVDD side of the Q6. What is SVDD ?

Hello, so doing a bit of poking around on this one i've found 2 shorted caps on the small area of the exposed panel pcb. Here is shown on the pictures the 2 caps corresponding to pins 4-6 of the flex on the tcon side, which goes to Q6 on the T-CON. Dead short on these 2 ! They are the 2 largest caps so i guess they are bigger voltages lines powering the backlight or the cells, seems to be closer to evdd connector. What does that mean ? No clue, short inside of panel itself ? I could inject voltage on the lines after removing caps and see if house catches fire ?

Um, it seems that at the bottom of the TV, one of the 3.5MM ports say RS-232C/Remote. Would this

expensive.. TTL adapter will be no more than 6USD..LOL

remove the heatsink of yours MB and upload clear focused photo of it

Ok, replaced t-con and same 4 blinks. Could it be that the code is stored into some memory or no ? Anything else i can try ?

Update, it now blinks 6 times now sure what that could mean.

Yes to access it, but even there it's not fixable if it's the cof, only the CAPS. But bypassing the failed portion using taping/cutting/masking the pins is always an option i guess

Okay will do. When a line of cell or anything is shorted on the panel itself, ive seen the quick fixes where people are 'taping' lines (seen this on lcd's) on samsung panels where there was failed COFS, but i always wondered it there was a way to more precisely pinpoint on which line the short is, so that you can either cut/isolate the fault and get a working picture minus one line or something similar. Also wondered if that technique was working with OLED in some way, haven't seen any reports of success with such issues on oleds like it did on lcd's.

OLED Panel also have COF.. and also some time need banding if there line appears on screen,,, but the way to access to the area not easy... need to cut the metal which cover the area... for example

Same 4 blinks with everything connected but no evdd

this indicated oled cells are not the reason....cross finger yours replacements t-con will solve the blinking

Yep, tried that, optical led is on and the tv stays on without the 4 blinks, with black screen. But that doesn't confirm it's either the panel or the t-con, right ?

I ordered a t-con since it's cheap. Would swapping the t-con normally work without swapping the EMMC (at least give an image) ? Or the emmc needs to be swapped over to the new board before anything gets displayed ? Thanks.

test with just the EVDD rail socket disconnected from PSU side and turn on.. check if you still have 4 blinks

Hello, same (about the same, a8h) tv here, 4 blinks on bootup. Tried Diah's post #4 suggestion, both 12v and 22v are being supplied to the T-Con, however panel stays black, nothing displayed. Should i try another tcon for the heck of it ? I see many voltages on the tcon near memory etc being generated by the inputs. No signs of physical damage to the panel at all. Should i at least get something displayed on the screen when 12v/22v is being fed to the t-con ? Any test pattern ? Thanks.

at yours case you need just disconnect the lower LVDS between Main boards and T-CON then turn on the tv see if the 4 blinks remain or the set will start with black screen... yours sign of working are the audio optic port on MB will lit red and remain on also you could heat sound.$ we will know the condition of the OLED module..
this post we are cutting the error collection pins on T-CON to MB to let the set complete boot... you can see the print chart of the lower LVDS on T-CON remarked with error.....

Hello, Awesome thread. Very informative posts by Diah!

Sony KD-65AG8 (should be the same as the XBR I think). Four red blinks on LED, no picture, no sound. Optical port lights up red, I was able to go through with factory reset as per Sony instructions (LED turns green, TV reboots and LED turns white for a short while then red blinks again).


Ran T-Com standalone as in post #4. Voltages on PSB terminals:

STBY: 3.48v
REG_12V: 12.65v
EVDD: 22.0v
TCON_12V: 12.65v

No picture what so ever on the screen. How do I know if the panel is dead or the t-con?

Yes Ive seen red light at optical port. Also I do hear music because I did hard reset holding vol - and power buttons and it was blinking green at front.
