Got a call from a lady who's husband is in the hospital and he has a beautiful Pioneer Kuro Pro Elite 111FD Plasma. The grandkids were playing with the remote and somehow got the Picture setting to OFF. The menu OSD comes up fine but no picture from his cable and good audio. I downloaded the manual and it does mention in the Tools menu with a selection that says Picture and it's set to OFF. It says to hit any button on the remote except the Vol- or + or the mute button and the picture will turn back on but I don't get it to change. The tv turns on fine, very clear OSD, but no video. Unfortunately its a 9th Gen so the regular remote cannot get into the service mode. She said he LOVES this tv and is going to freak out when he hear's the news so I'm trying to figure it out for her before he get's home. Any suggestions gang?

Re: Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD OSD good No picture
I'll try unplugging everything and try it. I did try a reset and looked in every picture setting option and couldn't find anything. When I read about the Tools menu and scrolled down to picture I did notice it shows OFF. Brought in a test tv and cable box confirmed working fine. Menu pulls up clear as day. I don't have a Pioneer service remote and I'm wondering if a software update might turn it back on. It does have a older version so it should install fine. I haven't seen one of these butes in about 5 years.

Re: Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD OSD good No picture
A couple things here: Press and hold the "Display" button until the red error indicator light turns on. Turn the soft power off, then main power off or unplug the unit. Wait 20 seconds and return the switch on "Digital Assembly" to the "Normal" position: 2) Make sure the Plasma and the Media Box are in standby. Using the remote control, Press {DISPLAY} button (just press, do not hold) and wait 3 seconds. Press {LEFT} {UP} {LEFT} {RIGHT} {POWER} buttons. The Plasma will turn on and be in the service menu.Last edited by nomoresonys; 05-23-2020, 11:57 PM.

Re: Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD OSD good No picture
maybe its a problem in "translation". Have you tried changing the value by hitting "enter" which perhaps will cause it to toggle. My interpretation of the statement in the manual about "hitting any key to return to the display"... to me may imply bringing back the OSD as oppose to an actual picture from an input.... although the note about the "picture off setting is not memorized" is some what "troubling".
actually, I think I see that you need to change the energy save options in the menu.. not in tools. In that energy save menu, there is the same display off option... my guess based on the quick read and no tv :-)
oops.... I see my search might have changed set type to a 101 model which appears to have a different menu option for energy saving.
however, based on the read of that manual, my guess that there is a "discrepancy" in operational translation by the tech writers and the "leaving the menu" as suggested doesn't change the value... you have to actually change it.Last edited by budwich; 05-24-2020, 10:07 AM.

Re: Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD OSD good No picture
This from 110 and 150: • Check if the input source for video or PC has been unintentionally selected although you want to watch a TV channel. (See page 33.)• Check if you have activated the Parental Control function. (See page 43.)Enter a password to temporarily cancel the Parental Control function. (See page 47.)• Check the cable connection with the antenna. (See page 29.)• Check the cable connection with the other equipment. (See pages 71 to 76.)• Check if 1080p signals are being input to the HDMI terminal. (See page 72.)

Says 110 and 150 owners manual, not sure if it's the same as 111, there's a shit-ton of settings you can mess with on those, manual: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...75b761b009.pdf

Re: Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD OSD good No picture
I'm waiting to get back into the customers house to try a few of the suggestions noted here. I only had about ten minutes to run through the usual diagnostics. I was able to rule out the cable box and brought a dvd player and tried a different input on the side and once again only got audio, no video. I did have time to check for parental savings, timer, and run through the menu but unfortunately didn't see any picture or panel selections other than in Tools as noted in the manual but it didn't turn it to On for me. I see in the service manual the 9th Gen remote will not access the service menu. Hope to get in there this week and try some of the suggestions to see if I can get it to turn on before I haul this beast back to the shop. Thanks gang, I'll keep you posted.
