Celcus 48UHDSB-0/1 - intermittent shut down

    Hi,
I've got. Celcus TV in that shuts down usually after about 45 minutes. It can then be turned back on but then shuts down in between 2-5 minutes each time.

The backlights look like they're all lighting up however the screen when a picture is on it is very dim. I haven't stripped tv yet to check backlights with my tester.

I have pulled all caps from the board and tested them with my ESR meter and they all appear good on the cold side.

one thing to note is that when the tv powers up there is a high pitched whine and a faint crackling noise coming from the Vestel 17IPS20 power supply.

It appears to be near the transformer TR200.

I've also replaced all the F5404 diodes as a precaution.

Any pointers would be helpful, I'm determined not to swap this PSU out if I can fix it at board level :-)

    Cheers

    I'm getting 88.6V at the output filter caps (56uF - 160V).
If I disconnect backlight, getting 140v on startup then it drops to 79.4V
When backlights disconnected the whining stops

I don't know the version of your power supply so post some pictures, I would suspect the small elec. caps. like C240 & C207

just checked and D101 MUR460G is shorted fully both ways. Just ordered some from cpc farnell.

Where is this D101 located on the board? Pictures of the board will help.
I cannot see how shorted diode will allow the TV to be working for 45 minutes then shutdown.

Looks like the diode is in the B+ line just after the PFC fet, so it was likely a low B+ condition allowing the tv to work for a short time.

So that means boosted PFC Voltage is not present if the PFC Diode shorted out and the circuit does not have have PFC Voltage shutdown either to keep the cost down

                        by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

                        I made the following tests:
                        1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
                        2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

                        'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.
                        by jesterace
Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...

toshiba 65ul2163 dbl no backlights NOT BACKLIGHTS?
                        by jimbofz
Hi this vestel 65in tv had classic no backlights ,so nothing new there!
tested with b/l tester and the b/l seemed to be fine
so investigated psu 17ips72 (on this 65inch there are 3 fets and control iv type DB83630P)
did a thorough check on b/l circuit all ok .
When i tried again with b/l tester all ok .but then when i reinstalled psu all worked fine ,
could there be a component on psu that is causing the protection mode to stop b/l
.maybee causing it to be too sensitive?
it seems to me if the b/l have been on with my tester ,within a couple of minutes...

                        Hi everyone
I have an Ecco LH32 Led tv with no backlights. PSU is reading 7.6 v, using two led strips of 6 leds each, I have no backlights tester.
Does anyone know the backlights voltage for this model. Also want to ask if backlights leds come in a parallel arrangement, or series only
