Re: LG 55EC930V OLED Is panel OK?

I have small workshop in my house.
There is an old oscilloscope in my storage. I do not know if it is still working. Never used it just turned it on once 3 years ago. I did forgot a little how to use it as last time used it 15 years ago in University.
I can try something with it only tomorrow afternoon.

there are test for the Panel to terminate if we have ONE OLED cell or row Cell had short ( regards to the time of use ) and some time it help too to let shorted cell to be OPEN so the panel will pass the over clock to let the system goes to protection mode.. need to do exact as written

1- disconnect the Main boards from Power supply totaly and from T-CON too.
2 as you did SMPS test before... need to do it same. as
a- standby coneccted to PS on
b- standby connected to panel on

you take cable 12 volts pin on socket 201 and connected direct to F! on T-CON

also it mean. the T-CON will have 12 volt from the cable you add to F! and 24V from the socket 202 at power boards.

here when you plug the tv in wall socket... mean its going on and the panel on too with out main boards as its out from the system

on the socket of LVDS at T-CON side... you can check after pin 10 to 20.. they will be as following
10 will be P 11 will be N and so on till 20

if you have signal generator or do it your self by take av signal from any source.. the minus of signal goes to chassis of the set.. and the P signal pin you can connected to 100PF ceramic cap and the next pin of cap goes as test pin to any of the mentioned pins as remarked with ( P )

screen could show one color or many.... doesn't matter how it look as we want to see the cells turn on and force them to turn on.... if one shorted by test it will go open... ( mean it will be small white dots.. if one row shorted... then no chance,,

any screen you will have shoot photo and upload here

actually this is workshop test... but you can give try as it will not harm the set as well the main bards because its out from the system

      good luck

Re: LG 55EC930V OLED Is panel OK?

I want to double check that I would not make mistakes.
In the photo I have market where I will connect 12 V.
And I will need to test screen on pins that I have marked in red square, am I right?
Is it OK to use external power supply for 12V?

1- the 12 volts point correct on F1

2- the test points correct...but you can skip them if you had at first turn on one color screen

3- you can not use external Power. it should 12 V from same source of the PWB which supply the screen driver 24v. if you in case used before out source 12 then you had toasted the driver... hope you didn't lol

I haven't used external power supply. It would be more convenient, but... thanks for letting me know.
Had some food. Now I am happy to proceed with testing.

I've got test pattern when turned power supply on. Did not do test points.

I get green, red, blue, white, black screen. All colours has specific distortion, see attached photos.

i read before you get out the cooler silicon from the T-CON IC.. put it back, and be sure the ribbon cable you you before disconnected are sitting in place.
then let the test run again. keep it running for at least 30 minute to clear cells
you should after time to see the one color will be clear as the red screen but on all scree.

at this condition .. yours panel / T-CON don't need signal (P) test

Good morning and Happy New year. Any update about the panel revival? I am curios if it works.

                  Thanks

                        Hello,

I have the exact same problem with a 55EC930V.

Here is what happens with the "self-test" procedure explained by Diah.

Should I try to replace the T-CON or can I consider that the OLED panel is dead ?

                        Thanks !
