Hello,
Trying to figure out what might be wrong with this plasma tv. It gives no image at all, not even a flash. No sound. The status led on the inside of the tv blinks very slowly. Maybe once every 5 or more seconds (which i understand indicates a fault causing shutdown).
I tested the main voltages which came out as follows:
VA: 57v (Panel states 57v)
VSC: -45v (Panel states -200)
VS: 213v (Panel states 211v)
VE: 139v (Panel states 105v)
I tested the VSC at a capacitor on the Y MAIN board labelled VSCAN but i'm not sure if this is right as the voltage is very low?
The front panel button lights up red and blinks a few times as the TV tries to turn on. During this time i am able to get the above voltages, but after a few seconds all voltages drop slowly to nothing (shuts down) and the green indicator goes into it's slow flashing.
I experimented with disconnecting the Y MAIN (and then powering back up) but for some reason the small transformer on Y MAIN (for VSCAN i think?) began to smell bad and smoke so i turned it off. I suspect this may be completely my fault in that perhaps keeping the Y MAIN power in but the ribbon disconnected at one point my have bypassed any failure detection circuits and let the Y MAIN burn itself?
Anyway jumping forward, I purchased a replacement Y MAIN and accompanying buffer boards which i installed today and now i'm back at the same point again i was at the beginning. Nothing has changed.
I have tested the buffer boards for shorts between the ribbon outputs and SVC_YOUT_L. No shorts found. All buffer panel ribbon outputs give a diode reading of about 800.
Really stumped as to what to try next because it's not easy to isolate the boards on this TV? they are daisy chained together and you end up with the TV doing nothing if you try and disconnect one board.
Any help appreciated. Pictures attached.
Thanks,
James.
