LG 50PS2000 plasma tv with double image

As the title says. The picture has a double image vertically
I was wondering where to start the fault check.

I would start by checking just the panel using auto_gen test patterns.
Unplug tv, dissconnect the cable between the main and control borad, locate and short the two points on the control board labeled AUTO_GEN and plug it the tv a see if the fault is still there while viewing the test patterns

If the control board has a P6 plug (lower left on board) short pins 1~2 for Auto Gen. The fault could be a poor connection with the lvds cable also, (wide flat cable between control board and main) try re-seating this cable a few times if the autogen tests are ok.

Some additional information. The tv has not been used for a lo g time so when I turned it on the picture was perfect for a few minutes but then the double image returned and when on for a lo her time the screen continues getting worse with the double image flickering.and even a few thin horizontal coloured lines and on the top right corner some small shadows of red, but once in a while the screen becomes perfect for a few seconds.

That's the auto gen plug. Just to be clear, is 1 and 2 to the left?

Pin #1 is marked with a white triangle. If the tv has'nt been used for a while I would re-seat all the connectors and maybe even clean and re-seat the flat cables between the panel and buffer boards.

I tested the auto gen patterns. The pictures has less distortions but in some tests the double image is flickering but much less

That test eliminates the main board and I can't see the power supply causing the issue. Try reaseating the y-sus to buffer board plugs. try tapping on the boards and see if the fault changes.

I clean all flat cables on the left side with alcohol and repeated them. At first I got 2 black horizontal lines, thin, and repeated them again and the lines disappeared. I cleaned and repeated the flat cables from the logic board and now it's almost perfect. Just a liiiitle small flickering left

Update. After letting the tv stay on the flickering got back more and there is a sound...hard to explain..but humming sound coming from the board to the left. When I touch one on the flat cables from the logic board the sound disappeared and the screen looks a bit better. Maybe reset the cables again and clean them

The Y-sus board will make some noise, and pressing it might effect it, Remove the board and check for poor solder connections, I see from SJ images that the bottom of the Y-sus board likely has pads stuck to the bottom to reduce this noise.
Also check the ground contact points where the screws hold the board to the chassis, if there is any signs of black corrossion, clean both the board and the metal chassis, Then INSTALL ALL SCREWS before retesting.

                        Hello team,

I'm back with another tv and another problem.
I try to improve my knowledge on fixing TV, and all technics used until now are not fixing correctly the problem.

First, reboot issue, I use tape Method to find out the right side that cases the issue.
Then using this it's working for quite 1hour30, then at some point of time the image became double on the bottom for half the screen.
Then double image reduce in height and move to the top.
The image is like folded on around 1cm and the bottom has been moved to the top by 1cm.
                        When I...

Toshiba plasma 50WP16 wierd double image fault
                        by piershs
My 2001 Toshiba 50WP16 50" plasma TV has, after 20 years of trouble-free service, developed a wierd fault in the last 14 days during normal viewing - with no loud bang or smoke or any other excitement.

Every 15-30 secs the right hand half of the image has a "glitch" for about 1 second before reverting to normal. The glitch has two forms and also depends on the aspect ratio setting (see photos):
                        • 16:9 either a) a visible seam between LHS and RHS of impage or b) LHS image duplicated on RHS (photos 16x9)
                        • 4x3 either a) no image on RHS or b) RHS image offset by 1/6th
                        ...

                        Hisense 65R6E3 double-image / horizontal strips - TCON?
                        by jason123
Hello all. 3 years back, with your help, I replaced the LEDs on this TV. It's been working great. Yesterday, I turned it on (garage TV), and it has blurred horiz / vert lines as you see in photos. Definitely no physical hit or damage. Top 1/6th of the screen is perfect. Could it be main / TCON board? No tabs to cut on this model. Thank you...

                        by howardc64
LCD displays a 2nd image slighty offset vertically. And multiple pairs of black lines along the bottom. Probably common as google "TCL 49S405 double image" pulls up this ifixit post ( link ) with identical ( nearly, but their fault seems to be on the other half of the panel than mine ) problem without solution.

This one looks to be a more difficult to diagnose because most? of TCON seems integrated ( CSOT BGA on buffer baord) into the left panel edge board ( looking from rear of TV) There are 2 buffer boards for each 1/2 of the screen. Main connects to the left buffer board...
