Hi Guys,
I have a faulty Sansui SV-EPD-42Q0BP plasma television that is faulty.
Symptom: very dim column of broken picture on right hand side. A column about an eighth of the screen width. the other 7/8 of the screen blank.
Diagnosed: 1) Capacitors C96 & C100 both 47uf/250v swollen/ ruptured.
2) Fuse FS152 4A Open circuit.
3) Pin +VS on Hybrid ic measures 0.8 ohms to Gnd.
(this is with the pin de-soldered from the pcb.
4) D96 & D85 on the +VS supply measure ok.
Question : Could the capacitors have swollen and ruptured due to wear & tear causing the failure of the hybrid ic ?
or is an over voltage scenario responsible for damaging both the capacitors and the Hybrid ic.
The television had failed on switch-on after a heavy storm & power outage. a programmable coffee machine on the same mains line has also malfunctioned.
Is there a chance that a mains surge could have caused the damage?

Please, any input will help.
