    Repeat LED failures on 65UH5500

I have repaired 6 or 7 of LG's 65UH5500 all with LED failure. In each case, I've found one strip that has failed. When I replace the failed strip with one from a brand new/cracked screen unit, the TV works for a while and then eventually comes back after a month or two with a DIFFERENT failed strip (in a different spot in the grid). Never the one I replaced, always in a different spot.

Anybody have experience with this problem with this model? I have more of these TV's to repair but there is no point in replacing strips if the TV keeps coming back because the "next" weakest strip has failed. Is it possible that the LED controller is over driving the LEDS (beyond the usual LG LED failures) and burning them out prematurely? (I have had the same experience with the 55UH5500 version of this TV and so have stopped repair those until I come up with a permanent fix).

Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

Another example, there's probably videos that explain the details in depth, just a matter of locating them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G_PB2-Ki8Q

Are you turning the backlight level down on all inputs?

On any LG I replace strips on, I make sure the owner keeps an eye on the backlight level and runs them at 50 to 60%. They need to check every input and every app (youtube, netflix, media player). I only have had a few come back out of dozens (mainly LN series but a few LA and LB). With the LN smart apps, backlight setting can only be adjusted from the quick menu remote button which makes it trickier to find. Eco mode should be off (cranks up backlight in bright room). Default setting is 100% for standard picture mode and 70% for eco picture mode which is still a bit high.

Yes, I have tried turning down the backlight levels in the menu, firmware upgrades.

I'll have to investigate modifying the LED current. This model is different than the LN/LA series in that only one LED is burned out... often when I repair the LN/LB/LA series they have multiple strips burned out. Usually one strip shorted and 5 or 6 others burned out but not shorted. That's what made me wonder if something else might be going on.

              Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

              220v Led strip flickering
              by adelage
Hi, I am installing a long led strip and I noticed that it frequently flickers slightly, it is not a strong nor regular thing, but it is noticeable and annoying. I have measured the voltage of the mains and it shows some fluctuations, it normally stays at around 226v, but often (every few seconds) drops down to 218/219v), and the flickering happens exactly at the same time. I have measured this at the counter and with every appliance off, so it's not related to the house electrical system, but that's how it comes from the supplier.
I know that the best solution would be to get a voltage...

              by benareeno
I wonder if i shorted the whole strip...where to put pos and neg to just light up a single diode...or the entire strip. The strip lit for a second...so maybe i fried it? What say you?

I have an adjustable dc power supply and was trying around 9 volts.

I have a pic of a single diode...where to put pos and neg terminals to light it up?

Pic of middle of strip..is this where i light the entire strip?

And pic of end...or does this light the entire strip?

Where to put pos and neg for single diode..multiple diodes and the entire...

Need help replacing led strip on Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS monitor
              by mikey5791
              Hi,
Got this working ips led monitor by the brand of
Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS presumably a 23 inch type given to me with suspected bad led backlight. To test it, i unplugged the bad flat ribbon type connector and plugged it a good flat ribbon led connector scrapped from a HP Pavillion 27cw (led strip with 60 led). Good news is the HP led strip lights up but not fully, in between there are about 15 unlit leds.(as picture attached shows).

Fyi, i had not opened and removed the old bad led strip. My question is whether is it possible to cut some of the extra leds(say...
