    Sony KDL-52NX800 Issue

    Hi all,

I have an issue with my Sony KDL-52NX800.
It turns on every time and the sound is working, however 8 out of 10 times there is no picture.

When the picture works, it shows perfectly clear without any lines or spots. HDMI ports work. Side buttons also work fine.

I have attached photos of the TV and board in different angles.
Could it be an issue with the T-CON board or possibly a faulty panel?

Thank you for your time, appreciate your help

When it starts up with the fault, run a hairdryer over the powerboard a small section at a time, be sure to hit all the capacitors and the optos etc. see if it clears up or changes any.

Are there Voltage test points on the T-CON board? Looking at your pix #2, it looks like some of the LCD bias Voltages went away.

regards to the TV set age and the fault showed by photo.. you have bad connection LVDS or Ribbon cable. LVDS are first style but ribbon are the most issue here.. be very very careful to plug them out as they are now in state of dry and easy broken or move to other side make short contact.. suggest in this case use always good loop, don't trust your eyes or the glasses you wear

Sorry, which picture? I'm not too sure, could you possibly circle the area you think is faulty?

Would a new T-CON board fix this? Thanks again

Thanks for your response - would a new T-Con board fix this or does it need a power board?

              Thanks

                Sharp T-CON board.
Pix #3 & 4. Pix are not clear enough for me to read or see any labels on the board.

your first set of pictures... the second one appears to show one of the tcon to panel cables disconnected... right? Can you post other / similar pictures with some of the others disconnected (ie. one at a time and indicate which was disconnected)? This may help rule out a panel / edge board issue.

That second picture with the "white side" doesn't look very good as "usually" when a cable is disconnected, the side with the disconnect is a "nice clean white".

Just a quick update - I cleaned the T-CON to panel cables and the 4 cables on the top of the panel, then swapped around the cables and surprisingly the grey lines on the second picture have gone now but this time he brought back his friend...rainbow lol

I'm not too experienced with electricals but have a little knowledge, what could this mean regarding the cables?

noooo.... its your eyes... :-) put on your best glasses and ensure that the cables have been put back / perfectly align. Again, do the test as suggested for both sides and indicate which cable was disconnected for the test / picture.

Issue has been fixed, seems one of the panel to T-CON cables was dirty and wasn't properly seated

So I'm having the exact same issue with my Sony KDL-52NX800 with the exact same issue with the picture as shown I've tried to reseat the ribbons and clean the tcon board but no changes. You mentioned cleaning and reseating the ribbons on the panel which actually fixed your issue was this a permanent fix and do you have any tips how to access the panel. I've taken off the back panel and removed the tcon board to clean but not sure how to get to the panel to access the ribbons there. Thanks in advance.

Try cleaning the lvds cable contact pins and same mainboard pins where it plugs in clean the other end too that goes to tcon or buffer board be careful they are delicate, some use iso alcohol and qtip, some use a pencil eraser. Make sure you position them just right when you plug them back in, it's pretty straight forward, can check youtube for some videos if not sure of procedure.

So update on progress hopefully you can help. I ended up taking ribbon cables (4 of them) off of the t-con board and cleaning both the ribbons and the seats where they plug into the tcon board. I also took the tcon board off and cleaned with rubbing alcohol and still did not get a picture.
I ended up ordering a tcon board offline and installing the board. It fired up right away but the issue I'm finding is the tv will still turn on with the same half screen display after being on for a bit.
I can turn the tv on and watch until I turn it off after maybe 15-20 minutes and I can immediately turn it back on and it will give me the half screen display. I've discovered I can shut it off and back on a few times and get a picture to show back up like it is working again. But the results are the same if I watch it for any length and turn it off again.
It seems like either I recieved another bad board but I'm also concerned it's not the tcon and may be something else but that wouldn't explain why the replacement board got it to fire back up again.
I'm getting the half screen with sound but no display
I have not found a way to access the ribbons where they connect to the panel as they wrap inside the frame of the tv and feel it may be too intrusive and risky to mess with as I have limited skills and cannot find a tutorial online to access these cables.

                                      Hi guys!

I'm trying to repair a TV that a friend gave me recently. Lightning struck next to his house and broke the TV apart from more electronic devices.

First of all I've checked the power supply and it works as expected. I removed the logic board and shorted the 3.3v standby output to TCON_ON and POWER_ON and every voltage was generated as expected (12v and 25v for logic board and 32v for TCON).

When trying to boot the TV normally (having the board connected), the TCON_ON signal is not generated from it which made me think there's some issue in the logic...

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue before I give up on this TV.

In short, I replaced the T-CON board due to an error code indicating that was the problem, after which it flashed a green and orange LED meaning software update required. I cannot get the tv to do the required update via USB, so I am stuck.

Here is a rundown of the symptoms and the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

I inherited the TV with the symptom that it would turn on, then turn off after 5-10 seconds and a red LED flashed 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it would be 4, sometimes...

                                      Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

                                      hi everyone!

I'm having an issue with my subwoofer and this is getting beyond my basic knowledge and at this point I'm not sure what I'm doing so I decided to stop and ask for help.

                                      long story short:
I bought this sub about 5 years ago for cheap with no audio issue, I found out it was a simple dirty phase switch that contact cleaner fixed, the sub was working great with the exception of making a poping noise when turning off (which was super annoying)
since I was using it every day I figure I'll just put to switch to always ON and be good with it (I know,...

The monitor is old yes but occasionally used (perhaps about 1 ~2 hours usage per day on average)
one time i turned the pc on and noticed this issue
                                      what could it be?
nothing wrong is seen when it is off, also the issue is not there on a green screen!
when watching movies it is hard to detect unless in black screen/large shadows
                                      please check the images, thanks...
