I have voltage on the bl error pin on the ld board, does that mean its strictly a backlight issue or can the ld board itself be the problem?

Happy new year Diah, so if I do this like 10 times, it should clear out the ram? the more it's done the more room available til it's clear, about how many times you think should clear it if so? thanks.

Well, it's been a long and winding road..

But at the end of it.. SUCCESS!!!

A nice nifty 65" Sony Android TV...

A replacement board did the trick..

Again, I want to thank everyone that chimed in.. All the help was VERY much appreciated..

Will backtrace the 5v and see what I can see..

    Thanx

Yea, the working board in the 55X gives me a solid 5V off the USB...

Yea, that's with the "new" card...

Let me put the working board back in and repeat the check..

I didn't get a 5V again, even when the Power LED showed it was "on"...

I get the exact same cycles on the 55X that I did on the 65X..

Power LED comes on, fades, comes on, fades, then comes on real bright, then fades, then an orange/green LED.. Interesting to note that, the longer I let it cycle, the more orange/green flashes I see.. Starts off with 1 of each, after a few mins, 2 of each etc etc..

I also noticed that the Optical Audio laser only comes on for a brief moment. In a working environment, the red laser usually stays on all the time.

So, I am guessing I got a bad board..
Ah... but... sorry if I don't understand, this is the result with the "new" card put in either the 65 or 55... right? If so, you can confirm these "results" by putting back the working 55 card in the 55 and see what you see.

It is quite likely that the "new card" is bad but again, this "playing around" was intent to see if you could locate a replaceable component on the card as opposed to shelling out the $300... at least that was my hope. :-)

I have identified the FIRMWARE chip.. A winbond..

Advisability of an old fashioned chip swap???

I should also note that the afore mentioned cycle happens completely independent of any button pushing...

It happens at power up and pushing any button, including the power button, has no effect..

Well, there is no joy in mudville today.

The board came in and I installed it.. The Power LED comes on and pulses a couple times, then goes off.. The the LED turns orange, green, orange and then stops...

That COULD indicate a firmware issue, but usually (at least with the last couple times I tried it successfully) the LED stayed on orange/green/orange/green etc etc..

Anyways, I tried a firmware install all day yesterday and even left it going overnight.. No luck...

So, I am going to go back to Budwich's comment and try those voltages..

The board I got ostensibly says it's for the XBR-55X900C, but according to the labels on the panel, it should still work in a 65X....

I'll follow up with those voltages in a few mins..

Since you know one card (55) works, that indicates the supporting cards are good.... but it depends what voltages are supplied to the main and which are derived / switched at the main board.

Might be a waste of time but it can't hurt as a simple check.
Sorry I missed this.. Unfortunately, I am a one man operation and since I had this on my bench, 30 TVs came thru...

I DID find a replacement Main Board for $300 that should arrive today.. I am hoping this will be a happy ending to a long saga...

I pulled the TV out of storage fully expecting I had cracked the screen at some point since it was last out.. A huge sigh of relief when I put it on the bench and saw it was in good shape.. Whew!!!

I'll follow up later today when the board comes..

Thanx again for all the help and replies.. It's all very greatly appreciated..

    Sony XBR-49X800G networking issues
    by HarryZ
Aloha. First post here, hope I can find someone to assist me.

I have a Sony XBR49X800G with streaming issues. The issue mostly occurs watching sporting events (basketball and football). The picture will sometimes get pixelated, sometimes freeze for a few seconds while the audio continues, sometimes it's jerky. In other words, you get a headache watching the TV.

My ISP provides 500 Mb service and I have verified that I have at least 500 Mb on ethernet, and something over 300Mb on WiFi. I installed Analiti on the TV (it's an Android TV) and I get ~ 70 Mb on both WiFi...

Toshiba 49U7763DB (Mainboard: Vestel 17MB120) firmware issues after sporadic power cu
    by cheeky2
I have this Toshiba 49U7763DB Tv which was suffering issues after various electrical power cuts, which happened in quick succession
Originally the TV was powering on and then very shortly powering off. I managed to get into the menu structure before powering off and carry out a first time installation of the TV. Which didn't make much difference. I have managed to factory reset (that didn't make any difference either).
The firmware inside the 17MB120 is corrupted and is causing some strange issues so my question is does anyone have any suitable firmware for this model?

    Sony Android TVs eMMC Issues
    by PontyPCs
    Hi people.

I have been trying to get my head round these issues with the eMMC putting the TV in to a boot loop condition, or completely dead, when a dump of the Boot 1, Boot 2 and USERDATA partitions have been made, the MLC lifetime counter has been reset, using the original eMMC with the RPMB partition intact and the eMMC is flashed with the original dump, Netflix and a few other Apps don't work. i assume all the DHCP keys and factory programmed RPMB access Key will be contained within the original dump, and as we are re-flashing the original eMMC i would expect every thing to work....
